Would love to see the old Boonton line reconnect in Passaic County.

That be amazing, tearing out that highway and laying rail would be a dream come true! Unfortunately, thats not likely, but you can visit the old boonton line on my train simulator route “the Lackawanna mainline” on my steam workshop! (same username)

It's unlikely that that will ever happen.

01:43 I don't know how fast crows fly either. You never really see them motivated enough to put in the effort to zoom like a sparrow does.

It's a figure of speech that I like to use. Actually I misused it here because "as the crow flies" is meant to approximate distance rather than travel time.

I’d like to learn about the history of Boonton Line

Thanks again for the trip. Only niggling issue I had is when the camera is pointing at the speaker(s) instead of looking around the switch-house, outside of the buildings, or the viaduct. When they're talking about things in general, focusing on the speaker(s) is fine, but when they're talking about specific features of the location, pan around so we can see what they are seeing. Please work on that on the next video. Thank you. :)

Another great video. Nice to see some of the stations restored and/or repurposed. When I explored the line from Slateford Jct. to Binghamton back in the 80s all of the stations were still intact including Nicholson. There are two towers at Alford. I'm not sure what the second one did, but it's in reasonably good shape. There's a tower below Stokes Ave. in Stroudsburg, too. I'm not sure what purpose it served. I wonder if the railroad built some towers they never used? Looking forward to episode 29! :-)

Hmmm...I seem to recall someone promising in an earlier video an exploration of those Old Road tunnels the trolley company sought to use... What say you, Mr. Walsh?

Yes, and also finding the exact site of the 1927 wreck near Hallstead. Haven't forgot about it.

Speaking of the Erie, the railroad hotel in Susquehanna is interesting and not that far from Lanesboro. I haven't been there in a long time. I remember when it was abandoned. I think it's been renovated and repurposed now.

Glad to see the station at Nicholson being restored. I too was there a few years ago and wondered if the efforts would succeed. I was driving up to great bend and was pleasantly surprised at the progress made. Just great work on the historical society’s part. Congratulations! One question… Was the color of the paints used on the restoration researched and is it correct? I’ve seen the station in Vestal and that color appears to be different. I was told that the Vestal station color turned a kind of lime green and so it was restored in that fashion. Just curious as to the accuracy of the color used. Another terrific video. Thank you.
@LackawannaCutOff3 жыл бұрын
The station in old postcards was one color: green or red. I wasn’t involved in the color decision by any means, but I’m guessing that the combination of the colors was a nod to the colors that had been used in the past.
