Just finished 6 pairs of these fingerless gloves! They are holiday gifts to my fellow dog training buddies. These will be nice during training class - keep a good portion of the hand/wrist warm, while leaving fingers free to nab training treats for the dogs. Love them! And great for using up leftover yarn, too!

Ah ha! 6 years later, I tried it again… grin. I sat on the Podcast and honestly, I feel very guilty, but I had to do the tutorial instead today. I’m a bit foggy. I have a cold and I had 4 shots on my sciatic nerve. Meaning I’m sore and I must do a small crochet project to distract me. I absolutely love this pattern. It’s beautiful and so fun to crochet. Anyway, Happy Holidays to you and Mr. Institches. Thank so very much for all your fun podcasts lately. I love your doll series as well. ❤

@JaydaInStitches10 ай бұрын
Hi Teddy, yes definitely, just pay attention to the fit. If row 1 is too loose, you need a smaller hook, if it's too tight, you need a larger hook 😊

Awesome!!
@davidhamlin96692 жыл бұрын
Hi there. I love these gloves. How can I make them a bit smaller?
@JaydaInStitches2 жыл бұрын
Hi David, the easiest way would be to use a hook size 1 full size down and a size 3 (light weight or DK) yarn. Or, go down 2 hook sizes and a size 2 yarn 😊
@davidhamlin9669 Жыл бұрын
@@JaydaInStitches thank you
@lindzmorris2778 Жыл бұрын
Hi David, I'm just looking to make a pair of these but the 28 chain is not at all big enough, going up a hook size didn't help and an even bigger hook would have made the stitches too big. I've worked out that 7 (split shells) multiplied by 3 stitches (the number of skipped stitches) plus 7 (the number of single stitches the split shell is worked into) = 7x3=21+7=28. If you expand, or reduce those figures and check the hand size as you go, you should (hopefully!!) get to the size you need. I would also check the total row count, I've got big hands so I'll need more stitches and probably more rows, I'll crochet the right number of rows according to the size of my hand, make the thumb hole when it's a nice size from my wrist and carry on from the thumb hole to a long as I'd like them. Hope that helps, hope Jayda doesn't mind me altering her pattern too!

Hi there I have some 2ply 100% Acrylic yarn Would this work with this pattern and if so what size crochet hook would I use?
@JaydaInStitches2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kaylene, if the ply of your yarn is referring to the weight category, that would make it a size 1 yarn by the weight scale we use and therefore 3 weight sizes smaller than what we used. If so, that is very thin yarn and in order to use it you would have to either double or triple up the strands to get into a thicker weight category and use the same hook that we did.
@kayleneday87192 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your reply I doubled the yarn strand and it came out beautifully. 🙂

Hi Raffaella! You could certainly make these longer, just make the first part as long as you like before you make the thumbhole role :) If the forearm isn't too much bigger than this patter should stretch neatly to fit comfortably without having to change the pattern :)

I'm fairly new!! Why are mine fanning out as I go along?
@JaydaInStitches Жыл бұрын
Hi Cheryl, if your stitch count is even, then its probably tension 😊 As we get comfortable with a pattern and relax, our tension tends to loosen up, hence, bigger stitches and spaces. If you think this is the case, try switching to a smaller hook to tighten things back up.
@stephaniewaybright Жыл бұрын

Hi Joanie, yes! You can easily remove a row or two at the end for more petite hands 💗

Hello Ma'am How many days do you take for completing a project?
@JaydaInStitches3 жыл бұрын
Hi! It depends on the project 😊 I can complete a pair of gloves like this in about half an hour, but I crochet very quickly!

@@JaydaInStitches That's great Ma'am. I'm a absolute beginner to crochet so it takes a lot of time for me.

Hello i need some help. I did your mittens but one is bigger. Is there a trick to keep my gauge the same on both. Thanks

Hi Nathalie, making 2 identical things has long been the bane of many a crocheter and knitter! It could be that your tension was more relaxed with the second (or first) mitt, that usually accounts for the change in size. You can steam block or wet block the smaller mitt up to the size of the larger one if there isn't much of a difference :) In future pairs, if you find your second one is working out bigger than the first, switch to a smaller hook. Likewise, if you find your second mitt is working out smaller than the first, switch to a bigger hook :)

Hey Hayden on your split shell pattern, do you have that pattern for leg warmers?
