On 13 April 1984, Indian troops snatched control of the Siachen glacier in northern Kashmir, narrowly beating Pakistan by the initiative of Great Indira Gandhi, I reached at Nubra valley at base camp on 10 thSept in 1984 climbed to a post at 22000 feet and stayed there for 100 days with the minimum support during initial induction in an ordinary tent and in normal high altitude clothing no special clothes were available for Siachen then, I feel that was a record for a doctor, I came back in SHAPE I

Visited there in 2023. It is indeed most beautiful and Nubra quite untouched by modernity. Good hotels tho. The drive over the Khardung-la is an adventure in itself. So glad I went and saw it.
