I am impressed with the whole history behind this instrument and the saxophonist behind it. Being from Brazil and sharing the same passion, I feel that there are lots of historical facts to be learnt about Ladario Teixeira and his music and for the impeccable craftsmanship Selmer Paris has displayed throughout the years. A true wealth of knowledge for those who enjoy history, music and Selmer Paris saxophones.

Reading between the lines in your comment... I take it "Ladario" would have been the gentleman's given name, and "Teixeira" his surname? (Mr. Pipher seems to think it's the other way around, as he refers to him as "Mr. Ladario.")

@@rloomis3 that’s correct, Teixeira is a well know surname in Brazil to people of Portuguese decent, the given name “Ladario” is not, after a brief search I could see that Mr Ladario, is also referenced as Professor, and that he was born with congenital blindness, yet I don’t know if he was able to regain his vision to some degree later in life. I have a close friend who’s a professor in the federal university in the same state and town where Mr Ladario is from, I will ask him to run a search of the available documents and paper studies on the university archives. I'm curious about the circumstances surrounding the taking of those photos, because whoever set them up didn't know how to place the saxophone on the stand.

Fascinating how much customization one individual managed to achieve from Selmer Paris on such small order. Wonder if any other manufacturer ever provided a "Have It Your Way" (Burger King) option. Are there any recordings of this low A alto? Curious how it affected the tonal characteristics.

It also raises the question of why, if this design was made for a specific individual, they decided to make at least one more at a later date.
