@JET7C03 жыл бұрын
Yeah because when little kids none of us have heard of die from juvenile cancers, which are the result of totally random cellular replication errors, high energy radiation damaging their DNA, etc., - that means they had nothing significant to offer this world, and it was just "their time to go." I also guess this guy's friend had nothing significant to offer this world, so that's why he died, too.

@@wienix11 Well, I disagree obviously, but you're free to actually say why you think it's one, rather than just saying that, which changes no one's mind. I dislike these cheesy "things happen for a reason" takes myself, though I don't doubt their heart was in the right place. Still, the actual implications of statements like this are messed up.
@wienix113 жыл бұрын
@@JET7C0 yeah I do understand your train of thought. While I do agree that there is an inherently cheesy undertone to the statement, "it wasn't his time to go". That is the current reality, he's still here so clearly it wasn't. Now whether or not his time was preordained by some higher power or destiny is another conversation entirely. I think that our existence is indescriminate and chaotic and the unfortunate reality is some of us are "lucky" and avoid juvenile cancers and the like while. Saying it is or isn't someone's time to go is a rather clichéd statement but is based in people's interpretations of each of our inherent luck. Simply put life isn't fair, but stating scenarios of unlucky in this context is just unecessary in my opinion. Hence why I thought it was a bad take. Free speech and discourse such as this is important however.
@JET7C03 жыл бұрын
@@wienix11 So basically, again, kids who are perfectly innocent and good, get brain tumors, get shot in gang warfare crossfires, die in slums, etc. - if there's a "higher power" that decides to subject people to arbitrary and immense suffering, not only do they suck, but we're basically living under a horrific, despotic, spiritual regime if true. Instead, I think it's healthier to realize we are all subject to unforeseen circumstances, external to ourselves, that have no relationship to our internal moral character, our worth, or certainly our future potential, and in that way we can try to help each other through and work to prevent these arbitrary and wholly external tragedies, like say, earthquakes, or cancer, or per the video above: work toward a world where people can realize their potential without having to be a stowaway in a nearly certainly lethal circumstance, without suggesting instead, when one predictably dies, and another survives by the luck of where they placed themselves, that this was meant to be, because they had something to show the world the deceased friend didn't. On a more personal level, my dad died of cancer when I was 7, and he in his early 30s - he was a good man, dad, and on a very promising track in his life, where many of his colleagues made a name for themselves and positive contributions to the world - do I think or believe he suffered horribly and ultimately died from cancer, all the while agonizing over leaving his young children behind, because he didn't have something "significant to show the world" as opposed to his colleagues who survived. No, I don't. While the original commenter's heart I don't doubt was in the right place, this is literally the implication of their statement.

As a South African I can say that this has made me appreciate and be grateful for life and all that I've, a roof on my head, food, water, family, education and love. I am happy for Themba and as for Carlito he's an Angel hero, am sure heaven celebrated him.
@darelet3 жыл бұрын
Heaven needs you to follow the teachings of Christ - not saying Carlito did not, but the criteria is definitely not just stowawaying to a place of world pleasures or easy living.
@BTheTrue3 жыл бұрын
@@darelet sure. so I guess if YOU were in their desperate circumstances, you would just have stayed homeless and died right?
@darelet3 жыл бұрын
@@BTheTrue Your question is irrelevant to my point but to answer you anyways, I would have tried as hard as possible to get to some better position and I do not blame them for that but, if anything, commend their courage. That said, my point was that going to the Christian heaven is a totally different kettle of fish that is predicated on believing in Christ and genuinely putting effort daily to follow his precepts. Stowing away does not earn you (or necessarily take away) any points.

Does any one else think it's more than a little suspect that this guy's name is Gabriel? He just 'happens' to see Themba and decides he's going to change this man's life? I think there might just be a little bit of real life angel in this man.

As a South African myself i can tell you this, our people are strong and a lot of events of history still affect us till this day... so unless you’ve lived in this country and experienced the struggles of not being born into (at least) a middle class family and the struggles of being black (literally struggling on our own land) you have no right to say it’s illegal or shame him. God bless Gabriel, the world would be a better place if we had more people like him.❤️

Something is confusing me here. So this happened in the UK, and this guy stayed in the hospital and in coma for 6 months or so and still he was discharged from the hospital without any social services getting involved to make a provision for him? I would assume that humanitarian/refugee assistance would be in place for him for passing through this trauma. Gabriel as young as he is, he is simply an Angel. God bless him for taking care of that man. 🙏🏾

We should make it easier for immigrant to come to Europe. People are risking their lives every day, as stowaways, in dinghies on the Mediterranean, to come here. They pay millions to smugglers and live under the radar. Imagine how much the economies of European countries could gain from allowing people in to legally work and pay taxes?

This world never stops to amaze me. I remember we had an African boy in our school, he was also homeless at age 10. He said from the first day he started working to pay for a plane ticket out of there.. Took him 6 years and he made it. Now he has his own company, driving around picking up "trash" ( leftover materials from building sites) ships them in containers to his hometown, and every summer he goes down and builds houses for homeless kids. Never give up, strive for your beliefs
