@TereseLeigh3 жыл бұрын
Jaron- Yes it is very difficult to “have it all”. As someone also commented, something always tends to suffer as a result of trying to obtain it all. But it is possible with proper balance. In your example, if the woman is working 60-70 hrs a week then having it all is impossible in my opinion. So I would add that it all depends on the amount of hours worked by the woman and the type of work. I will use myself as an example: Married for 8 years. 2 boys- 3 & 8. Both my husband and I work non-traditional work hours. I am a general manager of a restaurant, he is a coach. So we have opposite schedules by nature. I have designed my work life to fit around my family life. I work 40 hrs a week which is rare as a restaurant manager but I’ve designed it as such so I be home for my family. But my priority is my husband, kids, and then work. So I feel like it all about how everything meshes together...

I have a career in wealth management. Kevin is right - I spent 25-35 building this career, bar hopping, dating, thinking I was invincible. But when I hit 37 the clock started ticking louder and louder. I knew I would have a harder time finding a mate pass 40. I got serious about dating and met my fiancé when I turned 38. Thank god for that. Now I place my career second and put our lifestyle first. I can relax and enjoy life together with a solid man. There’s nothing glorious dating in 40s for a woman I don’t care how good looking you are. Your only choice are rich guys 10 to 20 years older and lucky If he’s decent looking. Women want to relax and chill after 40 not running around dating and working.

They were all housewives and married by age 23. Image having to start over at 45 having left the work environment for 27 yrs and now poor with alimony of only 900 a month. I think NOT!!!! The end results were the same. As you stated women want to chill in their 40s not run around working and dating. But that IS the end result for marrying too young without having established yourself first or walking away from what you have established to become a housewife and not keep your skills up. It doesn't and that's where Kevin gets it wrong. What exactly does he expect someone at 18 to be doing? An 18-year-old needs to either be in school or working regardless of gender. It definitely does not mean a woman who has had her priorities straight, maintained her femininity, hasn't slept around, hasn't made babies, couldn't still be ready for marriage by the time they are 24 or 25. I know plenty of women who did it. They are still married to this day (15 or so years later). In some of those cases, the women did later become stay-at-home moms. They were in a place where the man was providing and there was enough financial security. And everything has worked out great. They didn't have to sacrifice one for the other. These are the same women that even though they are now stay-at-home moms, I believe they would have regretted not having that time for themselves after high school. They got to make friends, date a little, get an education, and learned themselves before they got married. And they were still young enough for a man to want them and to have children.

Most working adults will change career paths at least 4 times in their lives. You really won’t get it right until you live life in the real world for at least 7-10 years to truly discover yourself, how u respond to different challenges, where u actually want to live, etc. One of the reasons why it’s hard to be a HVM in your 20’s. I don’t think it’s worth women to take that same risk because they have a biological clock. Other cultures younger women just date up and get a man who been through all that and have the finances to provide for the family.

Powerful Self-made Wealthy men are not seeking out older women with baggage to have a family with. Ps The ages you gave were not old, that’s just “danger zone” range. Also some black women stress education to the point it affects there ability to attract a mate. This happened to my Mother after her divorce from my father and she was still relatively young and the same applied to other women in my family. The issue really is not going to school but telling young Ladies you don't need no man just get your education. I have a 22 year old daughter and I want her to be independent but not to the point that she only looks at a man just from a financial standpoint and that's how a lot of educated Black women think. At midlife, between a third and a half of all successful career women in the United States do not have children. 33% of such women (business executives, doctors, lawyers, academics, and the like) in the 41 to 55 age bracket are childless and that figure rises to 42% in corporate America. These women have not chosen to remain childless. The vast majority, in fact, yearn for children. some have gone to extraordinary lengths to bring a baby into their lives. They subject themselves to complex medical procedures, shell out tens of thousands of dollars, and derail their careers mostly to no avail, because these efforts come too late. the typical high achieving woman childless at midlife has not made a choice but a “creeping nonchoice.”

I think when women first started going to college a few generations ago, their parents sent them almost for the sole purpose of finding their husband there. Then women starting going in larger numbers, with the goal of entering the workforce, but STILL finding a husband. At some point, it became more about building a career at the expense of marriage and children. I graduated college in the mid-80's, and within my circle of close friends, two couples married shortly after college after meeting a dating throughout our time in school, and I two other women I knew married shortly after college to guys they didn't meet in school. It didn't prevent any of them from having children or pursuing the jobs in professions they wanted. But now women are also pursuing more advanced degrees, staying in school longer.

One thing I saw in the second woman: she sounds happy even being divorced. She understood her purpose in life. This is a real Woman of Service - that speaks through her actions. And again... She sounds happy.

Nah, the husband is happier. He has freedom. He's not saddled with living for others, he lives for himself. I'm a mother of 2 biological children, and 5 adopted children. But now I see that men are just as bad about making the same kind of assumptions with women. Most of these women struggle to even get dates and couldn’t actively seduce a guy to save their lives. It’s only those top 10-20 that can sleep their way up the corporate ladder or get flown out by rich dudes.

You know as far as Physic degrees goes, at one company I worked, training was challenging and even though I scored high to get the position, their was one women who aced it. But once in the field she quit because the pressure was too much to bare. Just because you have a degree does not grant the priviledge to succeed. Many women change or fail at the profession once having to put it test in real life. Some even fake it just to get the name on the door and the public suffer as a result. Egotistic ambition at best.

I believe if you're going after something that isn't what you truly want, you will more than likely be unhappy. In terms of relationships vs financial happiness, it's not always the idea if it's said that money and education will make you happy per se, but the idea lots of times is that you'd probably fair better having your own instead of putting all of it on finding someone to make you happy. There is a little idea (BIG Idea in actuality) that you aren't guaranteed love in this life. Depending on your upbringing and the network surrounding you, you may fair better but more than likely, marriage and building a network may come with a sacrifice and that could be love. So what is really important to you? In these chats, I have not heard not once, God brought up as if it's all in our own hands. Yes! we can make better choices in life and if we have great examples, we probably would fair better but not everyone will be successful at obtaining what they want. That's the crap shoot in my opinion.

That is inaccurate. I’m an attorney and paralegals working for us have a career. You must go to school for it and be certified in our office. The average paralegal makes 45k in our city. It’s just not a high paying career obviously. Now if you’re an administrative assistant, receptionist, etc. in a law office, that is a job that requires minimal skills and no degree. Lawyers hold paralegals highly responsible for their job. It is no small feat. I had to say something because they are an integral part of our business. My husband is also a lawyer who has a paralegal. They could not do their job without above average skills.
