The airing of the books is mostly because the paper back then was parchment or low-quality paper, in addition to indoor environments not having climate control options, so it could get humid. very old books today are still aired out but new stuff typically does not need it.

okay so! family tree! 17 years ago the current emperor had a son with ah duo, around the same time the current emperor's little brother was born. the one who helped ah duo birth her and the current emperor's son was maomaos father. if i missed anything let me know, i am being careful not to say anything not included in this episode as to not spoil anything

Completely understand any confusion. The imperial family trees are confusing. The easiest way I can break it down would be: 17 years ago: Current Emperor + Ah-Duo = son Previous Emperor (current Emperor's father) + Current Empress Dowager (current Emperor's mother) = son (current Emperor's little brother) Maomao's Dad, Luomen, was present for Ah-Duo's labour. Ah-Duo's son died. Luomen was expelled from the court and became an apothecary in the Pleasure District.

L' attuale imperatore ha avuto un figlio con ah-duo( la sua unica concubina quando era principe), suo padre( il precedente imperatore ora deceduto) ha avuto un figlio dall' imperatrice nello stesso giorno.
