Otherwise, he's lived enough of a life that there are far worse ways to die. A stroke, for example. Or struggling for every breath, alone and forgotten. Or surrounded by patient caregivers who do their best to humor the same conversation every time he discovers to his horror that he has no more memory, and everyone he knows is dead - about every 15 minutes. You can set your clock to it.
