Lady Gaga was honored on October 2nd, 2009 with the Rising Star award during Billboard's annual Women In Music luncheon held at New York's Pierre Hotel.
Gaga was then interviewed by NBC's "Today" co-host Hoda Kotb, during which she addressed the cancellation of her upcoming "Fame Kills" tour with Kanye West. "Everyone makes mistakes," she said of West's now legendary MTV VMA's outburst. "It's unfortunate, but he's a good person. And I think its important to stand by friends."

@00hammad She gives the feel of a mortal someone you could get smashed with and laugh with but also gives the feel of a creative untouchable avantgaurd superStar, I think the fascination comes from that, backed by actual talent, not just vocals and piano, but visual and artistic talent. Her work ethic is also admirable, and I can't think of the last time a pop star actually made such a strong and genuine bond with their fans. She's kind of a hybrid.

@00hammad Gaga is not overrated at all. She deserves all the success she's enjoying, because she's really hard working, she writes her own songs (she has a great vision in terms of arrangements too), she plays the keyboards, she sings great... it's all true. Mind you, she's just a girl, a young lady who played NY clubs before she made it big. She's got talent and she's got attitude. Moreover, she's not just a musician, she's a daring performer who's more than brushed with shock art. She's great.
