The song is purposefully absurd. It’s about the absurdity of postmodern feminism in pop culture and the desire to find independence as a woman without having to suffer the consequences of the history of misogyny and deciding how/when to embrace/rebuke that. The fake German is about the absurdity of that identity: how contrived, yet passionate her creation of Gaga is and about how it is both fake (like her German) and real (like her desire to ‘be strong’).
