Hello! Great video, as usual, just a quirky question... when belaying from the top, why a body belay that doubles the load at the anchor instead of a direct belay from the anchor?

Sometimes the position of the anchor doesn’t allow for a comfortable belay off the anchor. This happens frequently when the anchor is very low to the rock/ground such as is the case on slabs. In this instance it’s perfectly acceptable to belay off your harness. It’s not necessarily putting a lot of extra load on the anchor especially if the belayer is sitting down. Just make sure the anchor is bomber and your body is in a straight line with respect to direction of pull. Hope that helps and sorry for the late reply!

Thanks buddy hopefully it dries out a bit after this week so we can go climb again before it’s too hot. Got one pitch of aid day before yesterday before it rained. Wanna maybe go check out Aquarium. Have you been on that one?

@@dswanderinggoat Haven’t done it. Heard it’s a bit easier than 5.8. Should be fun though!
