Hello, Clive here...
This was filmed at home on 27th June 2019 for fun. It was a lovely sunny day and the birds outside were in fine voice as you may hear! Some aircraft noise managed to rumble in too but, oh well.
The guitar is my old Ralph Bown OM and it's mic'ed only.
I hope you like the song and thanks for listening.
A lesson on Lady of the Valley is now available as part of my "GUITAR WORKSHOP - SERIES 1"

What so clearly separates Clive from the vast majority of his contemporaries is not his technique (which is astonishing) but his ability to compose tunes that demand you listen to them more than once. No simple, repetitive, elevator ditties found here.

Tasteful beyond belief. Clive Carroll makes the world a better place, at least he does for me. God bless him.

Clive's technique is unquestionably exceptional, but to me what set's him apart from virtually all other great guitarists of the day is his PHRASING. He plays with a delicacy and touch that is truly unique and wonderful. As an example, I learned the traditional version of the great song, "Mountains of Illinois" by Chet Atkin and Pat Bergeron; that is, until I heard Clive's rendition. It was so masterful, so delicate that I decided to relearn the song with Clive's arrangement. Definitely still a 'work in progress' for me, lol. Kudos to Clive!

just heard about you. Glad to see the clips with Tommy too. I was blessed to meet him twice and maybe someday I might meet you to. I am trying to find to find about getting the truefire course and waiting to hear if I might get the 25% discount... however if that comes out of your pocket ... I'd rather you have it.

@@CliveCarrollMusic I have an opportunity to pick up a 184 a half decent price, but fear my interface/pre (a Focusrite 2i2) would quickly be a bottle neck to a good recorded sound. What do you connect yours to for this sort of recording? Hope you’re keeping well, David
@CliveCarrollMusic
@CliveCarrollMusic 3 жыл бұрын
@@davejinx Hi David, I run the mics into an Apollo x8. Amazing piece of kit - well worth forking out for UA gear. Also, since this clip I've been recording at 24-bit /and 48kHz instead of 44.1kHz The difference is incredible.
