I actually think all of the events in the game carry half truths. While displaying their own stories, they still hint at the lore in their own ways; even blatantly telling us things way before they were revealed. Take the goldenrose theatre for example: the main twist in that event was that Madame Bella wasn’t murdered, but coerced into taking an addictive drug that led to her suicide. This isn’t exactly something to take note of, but when you recognize that it’s actually Mary’s character that plays as Madame Bella, you may find a pattern. Mary’s official lore (revealed in the ashes of memory event) explains to us that Mary actually died due to causes related to suicide. This similarity between the two seemingly unrelated storylines could actually be a clear indicator that each essence and event could carry canonical information. Still not convinced? Think about the newest summer event: one of the endings (mr do it all) reveals that all of the robots on the island were actually human souls trapped within them. This correlates to mech’s lore that suggests her doll contains a remnant of her father’s soul, and also proposes the possibility that the accident that put him inside of the doll wasn’t much of an accident. Furthermore, the two main characters within that event are cowboy and enchantress, two characters that we know had a special relationship inside of the manor which we can also see in the event’s story. Sorry it’s so convoluted lol, I doubt anyone will actually read this through

Ashes of Memory was a MASSIVE improvement of the general story modes we had, I recently replayed the diaries and gosh, the improvement is there. I think Ashes of Memory's different time setting (pre-final game) makes for a nice change. Also, The 5th Anniversary being a journey down the memory lane of the 5 years with some amazing iconic characters was a wonderful event RIGHT before a new era for identity v. (Also yeah, story events arent usually canon, but im pretty sure the information we usually learn about are either a) canon (ex. Chrismtas Nocturne giving more information about Violetta) or b) parallel the canon (ex. Sway's fake identities = Martha's fake identities, Rainmaker' death covered up by a lie = Michiko's death covered up by a lie). So events are also fun sources of lore, especially the ones close to the canon (10 days of memories, christmas events, 2023 valentine events, etc.)! Im incredibly excited for AoM episode 2, especially since it seems to involve Mary and Frederick as the main focus.

AoM is such a breath of fresh air for IDV's lore. Let's be honest the main story was sooooo slow and you could see that NE didn't have ideas for their story or legit didn't care about it, which made me sad. With AoM I feel like they're finally realising how important lore and bringing answers are. I still have complaints about their handling of the story, but let's be optimistic! AoM looks very promising!

The biggest confirmation I absolutely adored was the reveal that... Spoiler Nightmare is clearly running the show and the Orpheus we know is nowhere to be seen. "You're a terrible actor" OOOOOH FREDDY BOY YOU DON'T KNOW THE HALF OF IT!

The problem is that the game has no story. lol They have ideas, but the story was never really developed. You can see it was an afterthought. Now, they're trying to retake it because it's the way they see of actually saving the game. The gameplay changes essentially eliminate IDV as Horror. They know it. This doesn't make IDV stand out that much, so now they want to invest in the story. It's a 6 years old game, and only now they're actually putting effort into consistently building the lore. It says all there is to say.

i was hoping one day idv could make those story modes like with gardener’s story and such with other character’s games like demi’s, margie’s ect. also hunters too :)) or atleast an animation about it but overall the lore is very interesting despite the fact it can be confusing at times 😭

So before I watch the video I’ll have my input about the title. I always considered ashes of memory to be a continuation of the story that we are set In when you first play the game. We go back in time ( possibly set 10 years in the past) to see Alice and a young Orpheus( sorry if I misspelled his name). Even when you go back to view the cutscenes again, you can still see the ones you see when you played for the first time( this tells us that they are not getting rid of the original story, simply just adding on to it, and answering questions that we might have had before. After those questions are answered, then we can get back to the main point of the game, if that makes any sense) So this is the original story/ part of the main game, it’s just a continuation of it.

Hearing the game is almost 7 years old is.. kinda disappointing, because so far we have only two chapters. It is quite troubling that the lore is so far behind, because that's what newer players start out with, which kinda builds the expectation of the story being longer. When I started the game I admit I didn't care because I wanted to play with my friends, but the story is quite interesting and now that I'm off my phone (it's not a gaming mobile) and on deskop, rather enjoyable.
