Lady Gaga's parents have a restaurant in New York City a few blocks away from my house. And it's called Joanne! I've eaten there once, it's pretty good actually. It's amazing that this poor woman's passing inspired both a wonderful restaurant and a wonderful album.

You're so lucky. I live all the way in California and literally the first place I want to eat at is that restaurant whenever I visit NYC(I visited my boyfriend once in RI and we took a road trip to JFK, I saw the outside of the city but haven't been in it).

I live in California, and when I flew out there on a business trip a few years back, Joanne Trattoria was on my to do list. I got there at 6pm but they didn't have room until 9pm. So I basically explored the area by myself late night for 3 hours. Bought some one wine on the same block as the restaurant, saw the music school that Gaga went to, walked the streets and through the park, while this song was playing repeatedly in my head. The experience was calming, beautiful, yet haunting. When I went back to Joanne's, a seat opened up, and I had the most delicious and filling meal. It is a very charming restaurant, and the staff are extremely friendly. Thank you to Gaga, and Joanne for the wonderful experience, may your spirit rest in peace.

I don't understand why people say that she needs to have actually met Joanne to write about her..Her aunt's death was a tragedy that affected her whole family. Joanne died young and she didn't die a "natural death" she died of Lupus (a disease that runs in Gaga's family). Joanne was her father's only sibling..so Gaga would have witnessed the aftermath of this loss while she was growing up. Plus Gaga is inevitably linked to Joanne..her name is Stefani Joanne..Joanne's name was Joanne Stefani..Duh she'd have some kind of connection with her aunt even though she died. Plus please remember she wrote this song for her grandmother and father, so it's written in their perspective. They're the ones speaking in "Girl where do you think you're going?"

I have lupus. Unfortunately, it's a disease that has no cure, and affects internal organs, skin, senses ... When I found out that her aunt had died from this disease and that she had dedicated this album and this song to her, I was moved, because it's not just a tribute to her, but to all of us who fight against this damn disease every day. I hope the world becomes more aware about lupus thanks to this 💜

Laura C. My older sister has Lupus. It’s a horrible disease and my sister struggles everyday living with it. She got diagnosed with it years ago, and it wasn’t until a few years ago that I learned the extent that it affects her. Not just physically, but emotionally as well. I had the same reaction as you did when I found out that Gaga’s aunt had Lupus and passed away. Lady Gaga is talented and she is such a beautiful, and amazing human being. this song means everything to me. i was 15 as well when i lost my 10 year old little sister to cancer, right before i was diagnosed with cancer for the second time. ive been a monster since i was 8 years old, 9.5 years ago. you've helped me beat cancer twice, the reason i came out as a lesbian and then as a transgender man, helped me beat two eating disorders, recover from a suicide attempt, stop self harming and more. this song makes me cry every single time i sing it or listen to it as it's the exact definition of who my little sister was. it makes me imagine her and joanne flying high together in heaven. i love you, Gaga. this song makes me cry but helps ease the pain as well. i wouldnt be alive or who i am today without you... almost three weeks ago i finished chemotherapy and radiation for the second time and i am two weeks on testosterone yesterday. i owe you my life

gaga is the most talented artist out there these days, fight me. writing all of her songs by herself, having the most powerful, angelic voice, nearly all of her music videos tell a story and could pass as a short movie with lyrics that actually mean something and you can hear the passion and emotions in her voice. she is not just making some mainstream music to get that money. with every song she makes she wants to get a message out there. gaga is one of the most iconic music artists in history.

Totally agree. It is like when you watch her music videos/short films you are transported to her world and she holds your hand and takes you through a journey. She really is the biggest artist in the industry because she has a maturity and is a visionary. I also think her intelligence, both cognitive and emotional intelligence combined with her discipline for passion, her work ethic, her strength, her bravery makes her the best artist on Earth. She has reached legend status. She's iconic, legendary and has made a huge impact on not only pop culture but also humanity.She is a true genius.

Being a Little Monster is never a bore. Why? Mother Monster's discography is utterly diverse. EDM, pop, rock, ballads, jazz, country, soul, etc., you name it. She has it all, and with complete, fervent passion for the art. Moreover, she reinvents herself. Probably soon, we'll have Gaga singing and dancing through rock metal or, even, opera! I never really comment much on here so bare with me but I felt strongly that I needed to share this with the universe in hopes that Miss Gaga herself will feel how appreciative I am for this song. I am sitting here at my father's bedside while he is slowly slipping away from this existence into the next; scrolling through my phone as a means of distraction and this video comes up as trending on my KZbin. I press play and tears begin to pour within the first ten measures. For the first time in this long, painful process of hospice that we've been dealing with my soul feels release. I feel ok and at peace with what is inevitable at this point. I'm hoping that my feeling of peacefulness will radiate to my father and help him take that next step. I'm on the edge of glory with him right now and I needed this. Thank you Gaga.

I had to come out and play the whole thing here to hear the lyrics in full. It's just had me in floods of tears- coz this song means something to me, too. It's what i would say to my own baby that i lost. I lost my baby through an ectopic pregnancy, but i always believed my baby was a girl. My aunt Melissa died in a car crash when she was 17 on Valentine's Day. She was my grandpa's only child to make it to her teens - he'd lost his other two as babies/children. She was my dad's step sister, but he loved her dearly; so dearly that I was named after her. And my middle name is after my great aunt Louise, who was like a second mom to MY mom. Now my dad and aunt Louise are gone too, and I've kept his last name despite marrying. I am a living tribute. And this album gives me that vibe. I love it. It makes me cry, but in the best way

"She was my grandpa's only child to make it to her teens - he'd lost his other two as babies/children. She was my dad's step sister.." Wait a minute, didn't your step-dad make it past his teens? I am confused by this statement for many reasons. If your grandfather lost ALL of his children in their teens or before, how is he your grandfather?
@malmorbidus27887 жыл бұрын
firechaser4 he married my grandma before I was born, when aunt Melissa was like 11. He's my dad's stepdad. Now it hurts hearing anything of Gaga’s but I will be playing this song at her viewing. This song will never not make me cry while hearing it because of the memories that are now stained within it.

My daughter doesn't speak to me any longer and it's been 4 years. I sent her this song because I miss her so much and want her to know I will always love her. Joanne has no idea how many lives she has touched in losing her own. I live with Lupus as well. All of those that suffered before us has paved an easier road for us. Lady Gaga is emotionally intelligent. It can be a blessing or a cruse. I am surrounded by people that keep their feelings close to the vest. I wonder if some of them feel at all. I wish I could give them a little of my own feelings at times.

Well, not everyone is ready to understand her. She is not everyone's cup of tea. I didn't get her before but now I do and I absolutely love her. I love her versatility. LG can sing the phone book and still sound amazing. She can sing anything you challenge her with. She is an incredible show woman. She's so funny, bubbly, cheeky, even. I love her personality. Her warmth, her vulnerability, her sweetness and I love the way she makes you feel unique and beautiful because you are connecting with her. It is so sad😢 that she goes through so much on a daily basis and bring so much joy and love to the world. My life is always a happy place now because she is a part of it. I love you LG. You are truly amazing. 😍❤️😘Wish I could love and connect with other artists the way I love and connect with her. She ruined that for me. She set the bar too high. Any other artist ends up inevitably being compared to her and the way I feel when I hear her music. It doesn't even come close. It is just entertainment. Nothing else. Pure escapism but that feeling that I have just witnessed a true legend I only FEEL with Lady Gaga. She lives rent free in my head. I love you LG. I miss you. Hope you are okay😊. 🎅🎄🎁⛄Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

When he cried, I cried. When he was angry, I was angry. When he hurt, I hurt. Today I transform this grief to hope and healing. After ten years with you I still get nervous before the Grammys, but i know i have an angel with me #Joanne." Sadly she lost her nominations. She really deserved at least 1 :(

Lady Gaga should've been out in the 80's. This generation now takes her for granted. They do not appreciate her talent as much she should be appreciated. An artist like her should be in the same era as Madonna, Michael Jackson, Prince, etc. These artists were creative and very relevant. We do not see the same thing nowadays.

Lady Gaga is a kind of artist who's never the same. She's always changing. And this is an important fact for being an real artist. Who would care about you if you would make a whole decade only pop? Nobody. Why? Because pop is a small music genre, everything sounds the same after some time. Respect the changing of Gaga, maybe the old Gaga comes back with LG6. Who knows? Please respect that fact. xoxo

@ubellie19807 жыл бұрын
Ms Gaga~ thank you for bringing a voice to autoimmune disease, something very few understand due to the many types out there and their complexities. I’ve been critically ill for over 5 years, now deemed “terminal” due to an autoimmune disease called, “Autonomic Failure/Multiple System Atrophy”. It’s a very long, painful and complicated disease to push through; however, I am doing my best. Today, I turned 54, and it’s extremely disappointing to know that I’ll eventually succumb to this disease and “miss” so much when God finally calls me Home. I primarily live this misery in silence since it’s an extremely complicated autoimmune disease that many don’t easily understand, like they understand Cancer. It’s easier for me too. It’s so exhausting trying to explain these things; especially, when you know it’s a waste of time. My “time” left in this beautiful life belongs to me and I choose to focus on leaving better memories and tired of trying to explain it when most don’t care anyways. Plus, I honestly want to be remembered fondly, not what I’ve become due to my many illnesses, I actually have a few other big hitters. Many, even those closest to me, don’t even take the time to research it or even “try” to learn about the plights one goes through. I guess it’s easier to turn a blind eye to those things we don’t understand and know so little about. I have monthly, grueling treatments of immunotherapy that are very hard on me. I know they won’t save me, but I keep going, simply because I refuse to “give in” and roll over without a fight. Any fight is better than to do nothing. However, this disease will eventually win and my organs will fail one by one, some already have. I am a nobody, but wanted to “thank you” personally for shining a light on autoimmune diseases. I often listen to your “Million Reasons” song just prior to any and all of my various treatments, your song truly inspires me to keep up the good fight. Nobody is ever ready, young, old and in between. However, your music helps me to find that strength on days when I have none to give. A sincere “thanks” for all you do, using your platform for the greater good. I’m so sorry that you lost your Aunt to Lupus, that’s a tough disease too. May God bless you, your family and all the loved ones in your life. Each new day is a gift and not to be wasted, our tomorrows are never guaranteed. That applies to all, sick or otherwise. Your music speaks to my heart and although I’m a nobody to you, I wanted you to know how much I appreciate your gift. Thanks again! Sincerely, Ellie R

We had hope up until the last moments that she could hold on for a Liver transplant but it became obviously pretty suddenly that she was going to Heaven. Her last words were, "Mom I love you." and then she blew me a kiss and I responded that I love her too and wish to God I could trade places with her and I kissed her cheek. Within a few minutes after that her body was shutting down and I told her she could go and that Jake, her 10 year old son, would be okay. Right after I finished talking she took her last breath. My younger brother, John, died just over a year before from Throat Cancer so after Jenna passed I got my first two tatoos, and I am in my 50's. One of them is a heart with an arrow through it that she drew when she was young and the other one was a Red Lotus Flower just like she had. We used to call each other every time we saw a Cardinal and so I added a Cardinal flying out of the Lotus Flower which followed a Blue Jay for my brother John. I am surrounded by Cardinals know along with my younger sister, Kerry, and my mother, Mary. It helps us feel connected to her and we will never stop loving her!!!!

Bless your heart and may you find healing were you go to search for it 🙏❤ I am in a really bad place in life struggling whit mental illness and at the same time trying to support and be there for my young mother that is fighting and losing against cancer 😔. I am really trying to find the strength to be there for my 2 wonderful boys but I sometimes wish I could yous rest from the heartache and struggle, it gets so hard at times and I just wanna rest.... when she sings "honestly I know were your going and baby your just moving on" my eyes tear up because I also "leave" this earth (in my mind) sometimes and I know were al the broken souls go 😔🙏. I dont want to lose my battle against mental illness and be one more of the suicide statistics i wanna live for my boys since they need me more than the Angel's do, and I really wish and hope that you also find strength in your battle against life. Sending my love.... from a stranger to another, hold on ! XoXo Anne

I can't imagine what you've been through. When I was severely depressed I stayed alive for my mom... this comment made me cry

Just beautifully written and performed from the depth of her heart. I lost my twin sister this year and hearing this song dramatically touched me. My twin and I were entertainers together so I understand Lady Gaga's song, her love for her grandmother, aunt, and father. What a loving tribute.❤ Thank you for this song. You sing from your soul.
