Thank you for allowing us to watch this delicate procedure of removing these precious babies from their nest to be banded. Most of all for these wonderful gentlemen for being so gentle and caring while handling the babies. A big thank you to them and you Lady Hawk. 💝💝💝❤️❤️❤️

Absolutely AMAZING job by this crew!!!! I think it was absolutely BRILLIANT to start a restoration project in Catalina for bald eagles. They LOVE it there. The babies look great...very relaxed. Nate was so gentle and cautious with them. Top notch job crew!!!!! Thank you Lady Hawk for capturing this for all of us...much love to you!!!

When I started watching the Live Cam the nest was empty & I thought Oh No Where Are The Babies. Kept watching cause I could hear voices and there Nate came into view. That was so interesting to see the whole process of Banding Day. Thanks so much for sharing Lady Hawk ♥️ Thank you to Dr. Sharpe & Nate Melling & all involved. You two definitely have been blessed with a gentle & patience that those little guys understand, although that one didn't look too happy. Lol It's a wonderful Life!!! ♥️🦅🦅🦅♥️

This whole process has been AWESOME. How carefully taken out and how carefully put back. And cleaning the nest was very good especially the fishing lines. If only humans would learn to be careful !! Thanks for the video Lady Hawk 😊

Great coverage, as per usual Lady Hawk!! :D I went to the live cams after I saw your posts and found it very interesting how the eaglets stayed 'down' when dad delivered the big fish... it was like they new something was different and he had to check things out first.. he seemed most cautious. LOVED seeing #1 slide the fish away from dad, but of course 3 got it.. which is fascinating how tough the youngest is!! Great fun watching the dynamics of this nest!! Thanks again... SEDs 💕

Hi Catherine! I was watching and waiting for them to return to see the dynamics! Isn't this a great nest? When there are three eaglets - it always makes for interesting viewing! SED
@YouAreMySunshine26 жыл бұрын
The youngest is tough because it was bonked about 1,000,000 times in the head by big sis before it even turned three days old. You get tough or die in eagle world.

Did you see when Dad came in with the fish? The way he was looking around at the nest. He knew someone was touching things. Then he just flew off without feeding. The look on the three was like” hey come back and feed us”. They got tired of waiting and dig into that fish.😍

I Bet they are glad to be back in nest.Hope parents come back soon.
@ladyhawk6 жыл бұрын
Hi Lucy- no the eaglets are not sedated in any way. They are calm when returned - sort of like shell shock for a time. They were disoriented in the Nike bag and then getting banded so it just took them a little while before they were back to normal!

Wow look at the fishing line. Dispise the stuff. Wow two females and a male. I wonder if the male is the middle baby the other two seem to be the boss when food is delivered. Thank you Lady Hawk.
@SamtheMan05086 жыл бұрын
Sara Rosati I think #2 is a male because #3 seems to be second in the chow line and if I remember correctly, #3 would beak #1 and then duck so "1 would beak #2.

Quite a reverberation in the audio! Glad to see them back and okay. Waiting anxiously for what info you have on them. Are they eating enough? Are they usually so submissive? Stormy fought back quite a bit. Still wishing Stormy would get back in the nest or get help. Thanks guys.
@ladyhawk6 жыл бұрын
They are doing great. A parent returned with prey and fed them before dark and Mom is on the nest. They are submissive because of their age and because of the great skill Dr. Sharpe and Nate Melling have with them. They keep them calm. Stormy's banding was an entirely different event and I don't want to criticize the tree climber who banded him but he was not of the same caliber of experience as these two gentleman are. I have seen many rough bandings on other nests especially in Europe and realize that many look at it as a job to do. Dr. Sharpe looks at it with the eaglets best interests front and center.

They've had quite the stressful day. But, at least, they are back home now.
@moka91446 жыл бұрын
Two females and a male? I would have also bet, that the middle one is the male. But I think we should notice that only the big one has the red ring on the right leg and the golden one on the left leg. The other two, the small one and the middle one, have the rings vice versa, red on the left and golden on the right. So when I combine.......that can not be a coincidence... :-) But maybe I am wrong or I have not clearly distinguished the middle one from the big one in the first minutes when they moved again after the banding stress :-) This banding was a very good one. Both, Dr. Sharpe and also Nate Melling, he especially, have been very careful and tenderly to the chicks. Most of all I was relieved that they looked for the fishing line, found it and removed it and even showed it to us worried viewer. Many thanks to the team around Dr. med. Sharpe. And many thanks also to you, Lady Hawk. Although I've seen it live, I appreciate the information, which is always included in the description of your videos.
@ladyhawk6 жыл бұрын
Hi Moka It is my guess that #2 is the male.The band colors on the right or left leg do not matter - Dr. Sharpe mentioned that he is not worrying about which leg gets an orange band - he is banding twins on opposite legs just so that they can be told apart. This was a very successful banding - it went off without a hitch! West End is next to band but I do not have the date yet.
@moka91446 жыл бұрын
Aah, thanks for your reply, Lady Hawk. It was just such an obvious thought with the rings. I would have loved to see the return of the parents, but around 4 am in Germany my eyes fell closing ;-). And many thanks for the hint to the banding at West End's Catalina.... I'm looking forward to your further informations. BTW.... If your time allows: Do you know anything about the progress in Hanover? I couldn't find any confirmed news of Liberty's return.

Lady Hawk, thank you as always. I have a question about the eaglets wingercisizing and then learning to branch where would they branch? I do know that there is a branch close to the CAM I think. Just worried about that. The eaglets were a bit surprised today. Glad they are better. Did mom or dad come after they left. I heard the parents.
@ladyhawk6 жыл бұрын
Hi Judy - they don't branch here. They will do a lot of wingercising and flapping. And when they are confident they will just take off. Sometimes there have been missteps and can end up below the nest like Stormy at Big Bear. But they all have made it back up to the nest. Not all eaglets get the luxury of branching! Over at West End and Two Harbors Catalina - the nests are on cliffs 300 feet up - they stand on rocks and when they are ready - they take off over the ocean! Now that is something to see! I just checked in and I have not seen Mom and Dad back yet. But it is still early there. The will be back on the nest before dark.
@judylattimore37566 жыл бұрын
Lady Hawk thanks. I watch those two nest as well one have a wolf trying to get on the nest. You know I never thought about those two nests. Thank you, you are truly magnificent and appreciated.

Again TY LadyHawk! I'm so glad you got the name of Nate. Yeah - so good to know the genders. I am assuming #1 and #3 are females and #2 is the male. He is way too submissive to be anything else! TY for all you do LadyHawk. You are everywhere there are eagles and provide so much info. You are the best!!! God Bless you!

This was so stressful for everyone involved, birds and humans alike, but especially the eaglets. It makes me sad to see them so still with fright. But it is for a good reason, and it helps to peek at the live cam and see that a few hours later they've largely gotten over the experience. I'm sure they'll nibble at their bands for a while-the things will probably itch like nobody's business-but the worst is over for today.
@loridori78626 жыл бұрын
Does anyone know how high that nest is? Doesn’t seem to have much error while branching.
@ladyhawk6 жыл бұрын
Hi Lori - it is 40 feet up in a Cypress tree. They really can't branch at this nest - they will do a lot of wingercising and then when ready they fledge!
