I don't think this has anything to do with the virus. But I am concerned that there's something wrong with that pond. It appears that he's gotten an eye infection and I expect the dunking in that pond to be the cause of it. Maybe someone should run some tests on that pond water to be sure there isn't a bacteria overload. Prayers continue unabated for both M&F!

Hey WWG - nice to see you! I don't think they are planning to test the water in the pond. They would have no way of keeping the eagles out of the pond anyway. We can't rule out anything at this critical time for both M15 & F23 - we have to watch them carefully. But I think it is positive M15 is eating and flying well! Take care ♥

Thanks, Lady Hawk, for explaining. I saw him live this afternoon and whilst I know he’s had an irritated eye in the past, this seems to be worse than I remember. I so hope it’s nothing more than the seasonal allergies he has and that it clears up soon. He looked so uncomfortable, poor guy. The fact that he’s eating and flying well are good signs so prayers up for M15. Hopefully F23 had a good day herself and that she puts in an appearance tomorrow.💕🦅

Yes I have never seen M15 have both eyes closed when he has his allergy issues and today this was taken up a notch. We have to be very careful to not assume anything & to keep a close eye (no pun intended!) out on both M15 & F23. Avian flu can cause eye problems and that is something I really hope does not happen! Yes it is very positive he had a full crop and is flying well - hope we see M15 tomorrow and both his eyes are open! ♥

Hi relax CROW mentioned up to two weeks so we still have about a week left to go. One thing to keep in mind, the timeline does not apply in case either eagle eats infected bird again. Then they are back to ground zero. Let's hope that does not happen! ♥

Watched yesterday when F23 seemed to ignore his sweet whistles.😢❤ I understand they are both probably still in shock at the loss of their beloved babies. Couldn't CROW drop in some 'medicated fish' to help boost his immune system? Antibiotics/antihistamine. Thank you for your continued prayers Suzy! CROW answered the question of antibotics in their recent post: Q- Would putting fish out for M15 and F23 loaded with antibiotics in some way help them just in case they are infected? A- A. HPAI is a virus and cannot be treated with antibiotics. Antibiotics should be reserved for bacterial infections and preferably chosen based on culture and sensitivity. Administering antibiotics to wildlife preemptively is a public health concern and is against our antibiotic stewardship policy. As for M15's eyes as long as he is fully flighted there is nothing they can do help them for conjunctivitis either.

I wish M would stay out of the nest. Perhaps there is something in there that is irritating his eyes. He was digging in the nest the other day. I so hope his eyes heal real soon. It's a shame they can't be treated as it would stressful to him to try and capture him. I love that eagle, as so many people do. He looks so uncomfortable. I wish there was a way to decontaminate the nest since we are positive the eaglets died from bird flu. I know allergies are a possibility, but he was just aerating the nest, and bird flu can cause conjunctivitis. Hoping this is just from his hunt or allergies and it clears up for this Eagle stat!
