I really appreciate the aesthetic aspects of your channel. It's very much in line with your stated mission of humanising the Stalin era. Stalin era aesthetics were amazing and the bourgeoisie and the revisionists have been working to make us forget that for 70 years.

This made me realize how much I'd enjoy a Lady Izdihar audiobook channel! If you were to read more from this issue, the articles about students and youth sound most interesting to me. Building socialism requires more than restructuring the economy, it also requires the whole society learning together how to be a socialist society, so I'm very curious how the young people of the USSR were involved in that learning process.

Anwer to the questions on 11:11 1. As I had been trying to disect religion, it has three major sections, and more or less the hostilities find its way to match these, so the hostilities can be as follow: Cultural. Problems in understanding the approach the Soviet people had to the practice of religion. Political. An expectative of the antithesis to what the human processes develop, a life in which religion has no longer much influence in politics, but limited to the cultural realm. Social. Lack of knowledge on the new way of life that the soviets had to embrace, that does modifications to the religion practice and so can put limits and restrictions or remove them in order to improve the conditions. 2. Not 100%. The first imentioned seems to affect specially more the muslim peoples to this day. The second is already something of the past to some extent, now the wheel turned, the political-religious groups are seen as a bit backward, and so the States that actively have relations with 'the high hats' of a religion. In this regard, yes, as many of the former SSRs are now closer to an specific religion, that the State embraces. I lack practical knoledge on the third one, but to what I can see, it is reduced, as now religion does not play a role as it used to in the common conversation. 3. Yes. How much the US citizens had more relation with religion than I thought. I did not study US history and I am not American, so that is why.

My grandma used to tell old stories while braiding my hair. Soviet Union especially Belarus hardly changed era's unlike USA or England so it was like you're living in 1940 when it was 1990 in ussr. And nothing really changed in our village Hrodna,we still eat potatoes or rice like yesterday again 😅 You also look like my aunt so much.I wish best for you😇

Thank you for the new vid Lady Izdihar 😇 I enjoyed the roleplay concept and how you mixed it with an educational presentation 😁 Getting a magazine like that in the mail must've been very exciting and inspiring for its old subscribers back then 🙂 In a sense, I feel like this roleplay brings into focus how you're one of the modern day people who've picked up the torches of those who used to write these magazines, and other publications, and are now continuing their work and their legacy 🙂🔥 It's sad that, even though there were so many avenues that were attempted in relation to building an international community and promoting understanding, that over a century later, these same issues are still ongoing like they were never addressed 🙁 Hopefully, within this century, things will improve like how the people back then hoped they would. Also, you have a similar little loveseat futon to what my Greek grandparents had, though it's in a more Mid-century Modern style 🙂 I really like how warm and cozy looking your apartment is too 😊 It has a nice soul to it ❤️ Thanks again for the video and have a wonderful weekend 🥰

The idea that the privileged position of the clergy and their property in American society is derived from the general recognition of meritorious service and not from their status as a mouthpiece of the nobility repurposed to the cause of capital sounds ridiculous to my ears. However my family is Catholic and I feel there is a clearer line of class conflict between peasants and factory workers, and well feed men with terminal degrees wearing expensive robes.

Yeah don't know when this was written, but describing Soviet policy as "separation of Church and State" and "freedom of religion" is absolutely ludicrous. The persecution and anti-religious activity were 100% real. Religious leaders were imprisoned for decades, religious beliefs were demonised (and deliberately misconstrued in State propoganda), religious people were barred from any form of higher education. I personally know many people who suffered as a result of these policies and this blatant disinformation is shocking! If you call yourself an independent historian, you need to tell the whole story and this is absolutely not it.

I'm just reading an article as it is. In itself it tells a whole story. Soviet Russia Today magazine is co-authored by the Soviet Union and the Soviet American friendship organization in New York. It's an interesting article with an interesting perspective. That doesn't mean that it doesn't contain a bias or a motive. This is not a video where I go into that. I'm reading it as it is.

@@LadyIzdihar Thank you for being honest and stating the source. It's extremely important to know these biases and I hope people will keep them in mind. Otherwise we're replacing one type of propoganda with another. The USSR had some benefits, but freedom and peace for people of faith was definitely not one of them.
