Andrew Garfield is a Grease 2 stan and SO AM I

Andrew Garfield has been busy promoting his now Oscar-nominated performance as Jonathan Larson in the Lin-Manuel Miranda directed Netflix film "tick, tick... BOOM!" and his much celebrated return to the role of Peter Parker / Spider-Man in the Marvel film "Spider-Man: No Way Home."
In a recent interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Andrew Garfield shared a bit about his love for Grease 2, a film which I have been a LOUD supporter of.

@@LadyJenevia Can I like this a million times!!! The world needs to know more about this! Fun facts like that the girl that played Deloris couldn’t finish the movie because she got into a bad car accident and they used a body double, or the fact that there were more character arch’s in Grease 2 than ANY of Grease 1. The songs are better. Ugh! I could just go on and on about it!! My husband and I both have always agreed that 2 is better than 1. We say “So she sayssss” (as in… “I walked into a door”) I actually didn’t know about Reproduction or My Charade because my grandma taped it off of TV and they cut those. I didn’t hear those songs till I was an adult.

OMGGGGG taping off the TV, the flashback I just got of being attached to a VCR! 😭 It's the 40th anniversary this year for Grease 2 so I am DETERMINED to finally do something special for it. It's appalling that Maxwell Caulfield's career took a good decade or so to recover from Grease 2. He should've been the It Guy of the decade! That toxic decade simply couldn't handle a leading man being emotionally vulnerable like that and somehow I will find a way to at least partially blame Reagan for this. 😠 Maxwell Caulfield, you will always be famous!✨

😂😂 That one has been hovering on my to-do list for a good 5 years or so at this point. Definitely want to do it at some point but am just following the natural progression of videos that I have more of a sense that people will watch (reviews of new releases, covering the build-up to other releases, etc.) 🫣

I love Grease 2, but I remember more of the songs from the original. Mostly because my grandmother had the album on vinyl and we would have dance parties to it when I was really little. On another note. Best scene in Grease 2 for me was the diner scene.

Grease 2 was my ABSOLUTE favorite! Saw Grease 2 before seeing Grease. I was grounded once and my punishment was that I couldn’t watch Grease 2 when it was on HBO and everyone else was watching it! Maxwell Caulfield…so dreamy! I knew all the dances, lyrics, wanted so badly to be a Pink Lady. Grease 2 is superior! 😀

I honestly don’t understand why Grease 2 Bombed at the box office in ‘82, the only things I can think of are it was up against E.T. and they had a fast release. Grease 2 was one of my favorite movie musicals of the 80’s. I remember seeing it 20 times at the Drive-in theater in my red Pontiac Sunbird, lol, alone because all my friends thought it was gay but well hell so am I . My favorite song was Charades, followed by Cool Rider , and of course Reproduction. Oh Let’s do it for our country was done so well! I had the biggest crush on Maxwell Caufield. My favorite line was “ We’re going to die and I have my mother’s underwear on!” It was such a well made movie with some truly talented actors, dare I say the whole cast. Who can’t forget Pamela Aldon as Delores? For me Grease 2 was the best movie of’82.

I've actually wanted to do a proper Grease 2 video for several years but I have had the absolute WORST time dealing with Paramount Pictures sending third party companies to file false copyright claims whenever I've reviewed things they've released. 😬 (That's why there is no longer a Rocketman review on my channel or a Terminator Dark Fate review even though I was positive about both). 🥲 I may get to a proper Grease 2 video eventually now that I'm a bit more familiar with other ways I can format/edit to keep the clips short enough but yeah, I couldn't resist addressing it when one of Andrew's interview clips went viral and the Grease 2 segment ended up on my feed. I was looking for an excuse to hype it up. 😂😂😂

@@LadyJenevia I'll be there with bells on when you do cause I love this movie; it's one of my comfort movies. I hate that a lot of people parrot hate about it that they have heard others say without *really* giving it a fair shot. There's so much good about it; like all the background moments where you can tell each person, even the extras, have really thought about their character~ Like the scene in the cafeteria with Michael singing, it looks like chaos, but that had to be planned on some level for Michael to move through it relatively smoothly^.^

Their scene in the diner where he tutors her, validates her understanding of Shakespeare, and shares his emotional vulnerability with her and she validates him in return does more for me than anything and everything Danny and Sandy ever did in their entire movie but to each their own. 😂

Mmmm I love Grease 2... but ya cant compare Stephanie and Sandy... cuz its flipped. Stephanie didnt fundamentally change who she is... but Michael did. And at least Sandy and Danny had a love story supporting their attraction to one another. A summer of live for one another. Michael saw Stephanie. And she mostly treated Michael like crap thru most of the movie and he pined for her nonetheless.
