From starting at “what was past me doing” to a bodice at least together is great! I, for one, would be interested in like a capsule gown thing, we’re you have one base skirt and a few over skirts and bodices and accessories that could be interchanged for various looks or events.

I don't think they ever really went with more than two bodices, or possibly three max, for this era. However, I do feel like in the 1890s and early Edwardian era, when you start to get more into separates, the possibilities are almost endless.

I have UFO's like that. I try to keep a sewing journal so I don't forget what I'm doing, but sometimes I forget to use the journal or can't decipher what I wrote down lol. Good luck with your panic sewing!

I'd like to see a thrift haul! That is turning out to be a luscious ensemble. I loooooooove that color velvet. In the late 60s for one of my formal occasions, my mom made me a circle skirt of very similar velvet. It had a wide waist band and I wore it with a cream or white lacy blouse.I loved it.

A thrift haul would be great! I know I love finding vintage yarns/hooks/etc. at garage sales & thrift shops, and would love to see what sorts of things a historical costumer might find while thrifting.

YES, thrift haul please! Love trifling💜 the bodice is looking good, love velvet. I like the change from the split front to the point, I feel the point fits the look of the skirt better. And the tail ads interest and flow to the back. This dress looks so good, even in the background on you dress form. I'm planing to sew my first velvet dress this year, so that will be fun.

This video is super relatable to me as I too have evening bodices of gowns that are in progress and I abandoned as I have planned on wearing them to conventions back in 2020 and 2021 but I lost interest in even working on the hats and wigs that go with the costumes or some have not gone past the sketch phase

I was going to make matching blankets for me and a friend, and I made the one for my friend, and I have had the fabric for my own sitting in my stash for... five or six years at this point. And I've never admitted it to her either!! I have tons of UFOs but that's the saddest. I was living in an apartment where I had the space to work on a twin sized blanket flat on the floor, and goodness knows I don't have that now. That doesn't make it impossible, but it makes it a lot harder! Just wanted to share my UFO story that I have the most feelings about.

+LadyRebeccaFashions *This bodice proposal can be modernized for Lolita with a zipper for the centerline closure and hooks and eyes for the trims. Easier donning and doffing than Victorian-spec.* For a fingerless-glove contingency (or no gloves), a burgundy multichrome such as H💿L💿 TACO® Cats' Evasion will blend the fingertips with the velvet this project.

A great ensemble! To be honest I never thought of an evening bodice made of this kind of fabric, but now that I see it worn by you... it just feels right. Well done! Also, please forgive me if you told us in a video already, but where do you get your hair pieces from? They are the cherry on top of every single one of your costumes and I would love to do something similar.
@LadyRebeccaFashions2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I get my hair pieces almost entirely from local stores, because it's easiest to match color that way.

This is a left field comment, but bear with me, lol. The black mock-up with the burgundy skirt put me in the mind of that 00s trend among my goth friends of dressing "Victorian" which really meant black corset tops, long skirts, lace, and ornate crosses with spikes and stuff and now I would love to see some sort of actual Victorian garb that was inspired by mall goths. Or maybe just an Ann Rice vampire cosplay. Feel free to disregard or file away for autumn.
