This song reminds me of Link from the Legend of Zelda games. In Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, Link goes to Hyrule field and that's where this song fits. The skeletons that come out at night make Hyrule the city of the dead and Link being the hero that he is, bravely faces them and kills them. I love Link.

I like to think that the latin is what the character remembers from their time in the militairy. and the english is them literally losing their mind while slowly dying. its like they see their life flash before their eyes while singing a latin chant they used in their unit before everyone got slaughtered and finally its their turn to leave the space of the living and be with them once again.
