1st nozzle guy sure seemed like he knocked it down pretty well. Especially in the garage before access was cut. Seems like he kept it from going completely up until better access to the seat of the fire could be obtained. Glad it wasn't an EV with the flamethrower once the battery goes into thermal runaway. Well done to all the responding crews that quickly halted the spread.

I have watch a lot of videos involving US firefighters, but this one has to be the best that I have ever seen, OK, they where a little slow in get water on to the pickup truck, but they did keep the fire from gaining control and do all that in just 20 minutes with out the need for more three engines has to be a record in it self. As I said I have watch a of lot of US firefighting videos, so I expected to see dozens of firefighters standing around doing nothing, but this team had two firefighter's tackling the fire and one in charge and three or four extra on the roof of the garage working, all in all great work by all the firefighter's on this call.
@AllenPortman17 күн бұрын
I know a captain has. their hands full prioritizing tactical operations on these calls but forget about the truck after knocking it down focus on the exposed structure that is quickly becoming a much larger problem. Get a truck company or whoever to get in open up structure --the truck is a write-off it is history! But overall you guys did a great job getting lines stretched and water flowing on the fire!!! If you listen carefully to the radio in the background, the Captain called for a structure response right after the nozzle man let loose on the fire. Which is the reason he asked for a second line. I think you both were on the same page. Retiring from LA. Co. I’m not normally supportive of City!😂😂

@BigDuke-md8ec17 күн бұрын
And this is why FDNY sends an engine and truck to a vehicle fire . You just never know … they had one guy on the nozzle and the officer running around doing laps and I guess the chauffeur. No one to open that garage for the line initially
@ffjsb17 күн бұрын
This is why your dispatcher ASKS QUESTIONS... If there's no exposure, an engine alone is perfectly fine. If not, you send an entire structure fire assignment. Capt. didn't bring a tool with him either.
@jimfitz143217 күн бұрын
Not why FDNY has that policy. It’s due to a LODD death. From a car taking out a member. It’s to block traffic. But you get the added bonus of extra manpower and equipment none the less.
