Laffing Sal used to literally scare the s**t out of me when I was a little boy. That laugh she has was the creepiest I've ever heard; even to this day - and the way she gyrated in that glass cage just wasn't something my young mind could take. Of course when my parents found out I was scared to death of her, they would threaten to take me to see the "laughing lady" if I acted up. Funny thing is that even though I'm 48, this thing still gives me the creeps.

There were multiple "laffing sals" around the country. After watching a few of these clips, I think the Euclid Beach Laffing Sal was one of the creepiest. I am pretty sure that the Euclid Beach Sal is still in the Euclid OH area.

When they got to the “The Bandit Who Wouldn't Give Up”, they didn’t want the hanged mannequin in the shot and make a crew man move it out of the shot. While they were moving it, the mannequins arm fell off. The crew member tried to put it back on but noticed an actual bone. Soon police were involved and found the mummified body of Elmer McCurdy.

I grew up with Laffing Sal at Playland At The Beach my Dad worked there in 1944-45 when he was in high school. She sounds exactly how we rememberher & she looks great even though that isn't her Original head from Playland, it was stolen in 1972 when Playland finally closed on Labor Day... I tried to sell my 1965 Shelby Cobra to buy her at that Auction... It's great to see her in this video but the guy hosting this is just giving off some Super Creepy Vibrations...

The laugh was actually a male rather than a female. The man was very drunk and he howled with laughter. It was recorded and the rest is history.
