I know nothing about banknotes but I do find them fascinating, some great designs. My sister-in-law works away in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 and has said she’s gonna sort me out with the banknotes and coins she has. Great stuff LAFTA 👍🏻

That five pound note is amazing! It’s mental how any coins from that era are worth next to nothing but a banknote is much more valuable. But then I guess that most people in the late 40s to early 50s would rarely even use banknotes due to their higher denominations

Yeah I think that's it! And given their high value, they were less likely to be tucked away somewhere and banked instead when demonetised.

My mum bought a new Ford Festiva in 1997 and she gave me $50 to hold to give to her after she was done filling the car. I being the little s-word and not thinking properly pushed it down into the door where the window meets the panel. Some $20 years later when the car was being junked I removed the panel and the $50 polymer note was still in tip top condition. Just take for granted in Oz that in my life notes have always been plastic, hard wearing, and vibrant in colour. Wonder how many people in other countries washed a pair of pants and destroyed currency :P Nice work Lafta

A 10 shilling banknote was the first banknote to go into my collection it was given to me when I was a child by my late grandma had it for 45 years. It was my grandma who got me interested in coin collecting as she all so gave me a lot of pre decimal coins. Very nice set of banknotes some of the designs are really nice. I find it quite interesting seeing all the different colours and design that countries use for their banknotes. 🌟Love the old £5 note no idea of value🌟

Looks like the Sunday Times collection was from 1992 - fourteen low-denomination notes from around the world and I guess a folder to buy for them all.
