Paul, not sure if you follow old threads, but this was the drill that completed my transition to your "Body Swing" that I acquired back in 21. I had everything down but was still using my arms sometimes and couldn't quite get it to all come together. This drill did it. It finally "clicked" for me. Breaking a 35-year bad habit (arm swinging) was not easy, but the system you provide is truly outstanding. 👍

After following your method diligently, this drill brought it together for me. Started out slow & easy, pausing at the top w/the ball on a tee. After ~70 balls gradually worked into my full swing, going back & forth. By the end, my 7 iron was carrying 10-12 yds further (into the low 150's) and my driver 20+ yds further (up to 235 carry, 145 ball & 97 swing speed). These were quality shots. Not bad for a 59 year old. The best part, there's no doubt more gains are in the tank. And my arms were not tired after the session. Every day should be this fun. Thanks!

Very good. This is a great drill that everyone should be doing daily. You are right on track. Keep doing it and you will be doing it without even thinking about it. Let the distance come. Too many see some gain then start hammering it and the arms creep back in. It will happen on its own.

This drill really is amazing Paul. For me it really helps facilitate that separation with the hips, because I need to use the hips to fling the club off. Also It seamlessly works with a drill you have in your indoor body swing section where you touch the traps and then you extend your arm to get that nice thumbs towards the ear position. So I'll do the lag drill three times in a row and on the fourth time I'll extend my arm then swing and try to maintain that feeling of lag. I film myself doing drills, and recently I noticed I was casting the club, so I figured I needed to work on lag, and of course you had the perfect fix. Just doing this drill a bunch of times has totally cured it. I watch back video of me in slo-mo and I'm over-the-moon because I can't believe the positions I'm achieving. Can't thank you enough Paul.

Yes, this is a good one for sure. The problem is getting people to do it for more than 3 tries. Mind boggling that people want lag. I show them how to get it in minutes and they don't do it. This is one of the main things holding people back. Glad you see it. Keep doing it and you will have it forever.

THIS WORKS!!! I'm retired and play golf 4 days a week. I've been struggling with turning off my arms for 51 years. I have all of the Swing Machine Golf dvds and the book. Lots of Paul's videos have helped me to some extent but this one really connected with me. I tried it yesterday at the range then my round. Immediate success! The absolute best tip "for me" that I've ever seen. I hit the ball "effortlessly" all day. Now, honestly, on the second 9, I started trying to hit it farther and reverted back a bit to arm swinging. I'm excited to get back to the range then the round tomorrow and do it again. As always, thanks Paul.

If you did hit with arms and got double the result I would tell you to keep doing it but you won't so why keep doing it. @@paulwilsongolf Paul, a quick update. As you suggested, I use this "and only this" drilll now. I've gotten smoother and more relaxed each day. My handicap is dropping and I'm having more fun with golf than I can ever remember. This drill also puts me right back where I should be when I lose my game during the round. I quietly step aside and make some correct swings while the other guys are hitting their tee shots. I constantly do this drill at home in the garage without any golf balls around. Your'e a GENIUS! So I play weekly in a men's league although I should be in the senior league (68). That said, I did this exact drill on the last 4 holes of my game. (Prior to that, I THOUGHT I was doing this drill but I digress...) On the 18th tee I hit a nice drive with subtle draw that I couldn't see land. (??) When I found it, it had settled virtually dead center of the fairway! My friend measured the drive at 247 yards!! I haven't been golfing that long but I have NEVER hit a ball on target 247 yards in my life! The best part was I didn't swing out of my shoes! Thank you Paul!!

If you have been working on my tips and are turning your arms off and hitting pushes then you need to see this as good. It's half right. The body is working. The plane is shallowing and the club is swinging out at it. Again, this is half right. You should be jumping up and down right now. Instead you are seeing this as wrong. All you have to do is the roll over drill. Manually roll it following the tips below. Get it hooking. Now you would have the other half right. Get used to this for about 10 hooks in a row. Once you can do that you go back to firing the body as you were before and you hit it dead straight. Wrists = spin Body = direction. You had the direction (inside out) but you didn't have the spin. Hopefully you understand this. Work on this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2mZaYSpidF6qpY kzbin.info/www/bejne/pmXZcoajhN-ehsk kzbin.info/www/bejne/hF7ReIBsrrNqb5I kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3mop2p9br9oY5I So if you keep hooking it you have the right spin. You are hitting it left left so you are on the wrong direction. This is the body NOT working. You add body until you hit it dead straight. If you push it again you go back to rolling and try again.

@@paulwilsongolf I love it Paul and am all over it! Am definetly seeing the positive on the pushes in following your tips and style. Played a round today and I could tell that the pushes came from NOT flipping/rolling over the wrists (no doubt holding back from doing the old habit of a over the top OB pull hook hook) . One needs to learn to trust the "practice range" swing and follow through. I will watch and rewatch your suggested links below - your message is clear. thank you for the extra time. 1-2-3 is scary god btw. With appreciation.

Just have the roll over drill in your pocket. All day your are rolling in practice swings. This will keep the wrists loose. When you step up to hit your shot you are not thinking roll. You are thinking coil uncoil with the legs and hips while the arms are powerless. The roll is just so you stay loose. Hopefully you understand that. Give it a try next time out.

We all want more. Problem is we start adding arms and start hitting. The harder you hit, the tighter the hinge, the slower the club swings plus you start manipulating the face. Go back to hinging and rehinging. Back and forth to loosen up the wrists. Tee up your ball. 7 iron. Hit shots and get them hooking by manually rolling it early. Then at least you know where the ball is going to go before you hit it. Once you can do that switch to firing the legs and hips to straighten it out. This is literally 10 mins and you will be hitting it great again.

Before I left I was in every issue of Score Golf as well as seen nationally as the pro on Score Golf TV as well as 2 time guest on Academy Live on the Golf Channel. So at one point I was kind of everywhere still teaching the same things I do today.

I've struggled with a long backswing for my entire life and these last few videos of yours I realized you don't have to go back far to generate some serious swing speed. Now I think about taking my hands back(by turning my body of course) to about 8:30 on the clock and then start going the other way with my lower body while trying to keep my hands back. When I look at my shadow the club has been close to parallel above my head...momentum and loose wrists must take it up there automatically...I don't even have to think about it.
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf 2 жыл бұрын
For sure. If you do a long backswing you will probably pull the arms down and try to hit with them. So you will never get hitting out of your swing. I have done tips on this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHe9p5KZYqukrNk kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKikiHeBaslneM0 Using the shadow has always been good for me. So if you like it keep using it until mastered.

@@paulwilsongolf If you keep your arms nice and relaxed wouldn't that tend to automatically create slack or do you consciously control them?
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf 2 жыл бұрын
This is a drill not reality. You are doing this to loosen and get the lower body firing first. Once you get this you are keeping the club off the neck setting the top so there wouldn't be slack. There would be slack if you take it way past parallel. I talk about in this tip: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKikiHeBaslneM0 kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHe9p5KZYqukrNk

This is really effective. Though it must be frustrating for Paul to think of all these "hacks" to get us lousy golfers to do what comes easily to him and others. I've viewed so many videos (by Paul and others) and the problem I see is that none are from the perspective of a sinner who reformed. Anyway, I can now get a lot more wrist hinge, and I don't start my downswing until I feel it. Definitely no slice or even fade, and I can see the difference in club and swing speed on my monitor. A good 10 mph more. The miss is now a hook or pull. I still haven't figured out why, as it feels pretty much the same when I send one down the middle vs the left side. Tried closing stance today and that helped a bit. I know I'm coming outside in when it happens but I need to anticipate beforehand and take some corrective action. Body and shoulder tilt help, maybe I'm not doing enough? Or releasing the club early? I certainly can feel that much more so now.
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, this one is great. It is frustrating at times because I hand it to everyone on a silver platter yet human nature keeps telling them to do something else. A big on is people always wanting to hit every shot great. So they try something new and hit a few bad ones then quit when really you need to hit some bad ones because you are not good at the new thing. Glad you tried it and are sticking with it. As far as the pull is concerned this is your arms and hitting in your swing. Even though you might not feel it you are hitting which is leaning you left. Lean left you will swing left. So why not get into a routine of doing a few practice swings before each shot. Hold the club at knee high. Do 2-3 swings at knee high. If you hold the club in the air there is no thought of hitting. If so, you can feel your legs powering the swing. Also, a good thought is to swing within yourself. You need to swing at a level you can handle. I used to tell myself I am not Tiger Woods so why swing like him. This put my back in my box so I consistently swung at a level I could handle. Give this a try. @@paulwilsongolf Yes, I am guilty of trying a tip for a few shots then giving up. Which is why I think even with personal instruction it is very hard for a teacher to move the needle for most students. I've seen it on the range, you can see instructors qualifying students' ability by the amount of attention they give. The hopeless cases are basically just a money grab. No offense to the instructor but you can only do so much. This video, and a another one about snapping the wrists (no one except Paul has ever indicated if this is the correct feeling) has helped me the most. At least, 20% of my shots are dead on. The other 80% still are still ehhhhh.
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf 2 жыл бұрын
I always thought differently. I want the worst student and transform their swing into a great looking swing and get them hitting amazing shots. That does it for me. Teaching "pros" is a bore. I have taught countless people ready to quit and got them playing the best golf of their lives. For me, that is exciting. Keep in mind though I struggled with my swing after taking lessons. I swore I wouldn't let this happen to my students and I don't. Yes, the snap of the wrists is a huge piece to the swing. Keep in mind this is a piece. Too many people want everything all at once. They want to hit every shot perfectly right away. This rarely works. For the wrist snap you are trying to do it and get every ball hooking. If you could do that you would have half right (spin). All you would have to do then is straighten it out by adding body. So you are at 20%, Roll from the top and get to 99.9% straight or hooking. Once you can do that, then we add body.
@josephoreilly7180
@josephoreilly7180 2 жыл бұрын
@@paulwilsongolf Definitely hooking it. Goes straight for about 100 yards, then hard left. Assume that once the velocity bleeds off the spin takes over. Keeping at it!
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf 2 жыл бұрын
Once you have memorized the feeling of rolling it over you switch to body to start straightening it out. Don't go crazy and fire as hard as you can. You add a little legs and watch your ball go less left. Fire a little more and so on until it goes dead straight. If you fire too hard it will go right. At this point you roll it 3-5 times in practice swings to unlock your wrists then try again not firing the lower as hard. Once you get it straight you memorize the feeling of how much legs it took you. Then you do this forever. Anytime in the future you start putting slice spin on it your hinge (wrists) are getting too tight. So you immediate start rolling (in practice swings) to loosen the wrists. Also, you need to work on alignment so watch these: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHe9lGONppdraM0 kzbin.info/www/bejne/jGKXiZWsasZ3a8k Could watch this too: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZC8d3h_nrOrkM0

Need a little more rotation. Take your right knee and keep it bend. If you early extend this knee straightens. So keep it bend as you turn your hips. If so, this need will come around to touch the left into the follow through and it should be close to gone if not gone completely. I early extend with driver so did Nicklause and other. I stopped worrying about it. I only miss 1 to 3 fairways a round.

@paulwilsongolf

Not really. This is why I don't have the body swing short game series. ---------------------CHIPPING ---------------------- Chipping is easy. It's a stroke like putting. Ball back instep. Hands forward. 3-4 knuckle grip. Weight forward. Stroke it like a putt. --------------------PUTTING ---------------------- Putting is simple. You need to be target oriented. Imagine a ball in your bottom hand. Thumb straight down the flat surface of the grip. Feel like you are throwing the ball at the target. Practice only long putts 30+ feet and 6 feet or less. That's it. Do that you will be great. ---------------------------------------------------------- These are the short game videos I have posted so far: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3zWXqxnfK2sidE kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5_LgKB7fNSHiKM kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHa1g5uLYq-tbck kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIiWi3ZphtyEm80 kzbin.info/www/bejne/g3ycfqyEaNKXqpo kzbin.info/www/bejne/fX_an59sr6qJeJY I may do more but it seems everyone complains about their short game so I post a tip and few watch it.
