But I have a point here. It's mentioned towards the end of this episode that they are bringing to us so called Lataji's first collab with Rahman. But isn't Dil se her first movie with him much before RDB. Why are they changing the facts? God knows what's running on these ppl's minds!

Dear Mr. Srinivas. Please allow us to clarify, the narration says, " Rahman’s vocal chords mingled with the Golden Voice of the Nightingale of India - Lata Mangeshkar - for the 1st time in Rang De Basanti". Lata ji sang many compositions by Mr. Rahman before Rang De Basanti. But Luka Chhuppi (RDB) was the 1st song that Mr. Rahman & Lata ji sang together. We are careful with facts. Kindly revisit the episode. Warm regards.

Alla Yagnik is the perhaps the most legendary female playback singer after Lata Mangeshkar in the Hindi film industry. To hear her voice in many of Rahman’s compositions is a blessing for us - fans. Thank you, Alka Yagnik. And forever a fan of AR Rahman! Love you, Sir!

After Lata Mangeshkar? There is someone called Asha Bhosle dude.
@mysoreantalks2 жыл бұрын
@@debayudhchatterjee5961 yes. Asha Bhosle. I didn’t forget her She’s another absolute legend. Just thought she had a certain niche for herself. Her unique voice lent itself well to certain genres. And maybe she was also a victim of a some intra family politics I have heard. In terms of being prolific, I was saying. For example number of songs sung, number of years of being the topmost sought after playback voice for the leading actresses across genres, across age groups, etc. And years of staying on top of the playback singers pile. I would rate Alka as second on these parameters. Asha Bhosle is incomparable. Probably she is out of this rate race. Some of her songs no Alka nor Lata Mangeshkar can sing. That was her strength. For example in Lagaan, Radha kaise Na jale, I doubt if it would have the same impact had Alka Yagnik sung it. So yes, it’s not that I don’t recognise the Asha Bhosle greatness. Went more by the assembly line churning out of songs, and those kind of parameters to put Alka Yagnik ahead. That’s all. I hope I have clarified! 😀

The only live show which I ever attended was the one back in 2007 where there were super floods in Mumbai and most prominent singers couldn’t make it to the show in London. Thankfully, Alka Yagnik did manage to make it and it was a delight to see her perform on stage to ARRs music .. especially Zubeida .. for me, that album still holds a very special place in my heart 😊

She clearly confesses that until the songs were released and turned out to be hits l, she didn’t approve them completely. She even confesses about laughing over hits when made. Strange and beautiful how the Mozart of madras took nectar drops of music from artists who were not totally buying his style. Candid thoughts and transparent comments.

Another fascinating episode of Alka Ji's heaps of praises on Arr minus her nakhras this time. She now saw his unparalleled legendary growth on the international stage. Same is almost reflected in her words. Though some songs might sound synthetic/electronic, many of them were not drag on songs like some of the regular music directors of that time. Now, If you really try to remember scores of songs in Hindi movies or even many regional films for that matter, how many songs can you distinctly recall? Even for a hit album like Hum Aapke or Ddlj or Aashiqui, you can't recollect all in one go. But all the so-called 'electronic' music in Rahman songs would really help the listener easily recollect his songs irrespective of whether they are melody, fast beat or club songs, whatever. Just take Taal or RDB which have so many songs. You remember each of them including the remixed versions coz of the distinct sounds and instrumentals he uses in each and every song. That's why you don't easily get bored listening to him compared to listening any other composers for that matter. I personally enjoy some of his so-called flop albums too given this sense of music and recording quality. Again, among the cover songs I liked the one which the two gals sang so well. Rest can be ignored. Over all, a great episode but I also recommend interviews of other singers like Sonu Nigam, Arijit Singh, Shreya Ghosal, even Chitra ji, Yesudas ji, etc. Thanks!

@@pank-7423 This time meaning this episode. Even I know it's pre-recorded. But since we are traveling with the series I used it saying this time. And regarding disrespect to Hindi artistes, I think you are just not able to see the way some of these folks disrespected Southern artistes so much. In fact, if you look at my comments for the previous episodes you'll understand why I meant minus her nakhras to sing for ARR in this episode. It's also your foolishness to not see how Alka refused and somewhat belittled his compositions at one time. It is only after he became hugely successful she'd no other option than to respect him. I think it's your foolishness to not see this! Many singers like her thought that they rule like no one else. But Rahman just changed the game rules and rightly so. If you look at the efforts in the entire musical process, singers won't even equal half the work that a musician that too like Rahman puts in for a song, right from composing to recording it finally.

Incomplete and weak analysis by Alka ji on Rahman's singing ability she completely ignores the the anthemic songs, the jingles, the pop tracks, the rap songs. Rahman sir sings in many languages across genres (jazz, rock, hiphop)and his voice has carried varied songs composed across historical and contemporary times and situations and emotions. A very myopic take by a singer who is used to playback for actresses and whose work is limited to duets and mostly romantic numbers. A better take would have been than inspite of being an untrained singer the musical knowledge overpowers talent and natural gift. Comparing few spiritually inclined songs with 30 years of work is ignorant on her part
