The B&W with the mountain in the background was great. The sailboats on the horizon in some of the other shots remind me of tnings I have seen in Canada and the USA. Nelson Alberta in particular. So many places to see.

Agree that the black and white was probably the best shot. The boats were also nice. When I look at it now it wasn't to bad. Guess my expectations were just to high... thanks for watchibg grt guido

Not your typical foggy morning landscape. Sometimes we are our own worst critics. I think you did and admirable job of taking some unique landscapes of what looks to be a stunning location. Your bird shots were delightful especially the chicks riding on the parent’s back. The clouded in mountains with the boats in the foreground were lovely. I would be proud to own any of the shots you displayed in your video, although a little more separation between the yacht and the motor boasts would have been better, but I don’t know what your circumstances were perhaps it was not possible without going swimming. Great video thanks for sharing your family holiday. 🙂🙂

I fact u totally agree with you. I felt so bad about everything I recorded there. When I left Lake garda, I thought that I was never going to make a video of it. but when I started processing all the material, I realised that it wasn't as bad as I thought it was. I truly believe that there are shots everywhere, but you just have to open up to them. If I look at the images now they weren't as bad as I thought they were. So it was mainly my mindset that mislet me haha. Thanks for watching and your comment! Grt guido

Thanks Guido, I found that is a quite interesting photography/experience sharing video. Your photos are very nice by the way. Beside that and your point on your experience, your video seems to me inspirational in another way. I mean everybody would had in some occasions the same feeling to be limited somehow to take "better" photos as we would like by quality of light, elements for the composition...and this is important but it is one part of the equation. The other is the way that we observe the resulting picture. To me the most satisfying way to contemplate a photo is to take that as an invitation to see a moment in time in a certain way, suggested by the photographer, but the final impact on the observer is quite subjective and is not fully under control of the photographer. I think that beauty needs a chance from ourselves when we contemplate the pictures to stop and sink in that moment. From that, everyone would see what could be seen from our subjectivity.

I always like to share the good and the bad moments in my photography. I want to share the honest story and not pretend that I only take cracker shots. I this case, my creative eye was damaged by all the bad weather. Looking at it nownthe images weren't even that bad, and there were more possibilities than I thought of at that moment. So I agree with you that there are so many factors deciding if an image is worth the effort or not. Anyways, thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts inappreciate it! Grt guido

Agree the black and white island shot was the best. And it just wasn't that bad I just expected something else. It was indeed my bad mood that kept me from opening up to the oossibilitys instead of complaining about how bad it was 😅 that's what 2 weeks of bad weather do to you I guess. Probably a nice place e to swim and fish during summer but not enough excitement for us photographers. Hope you children haven't been bored while you have been away with the weather you have had. My niece in New Zeakand is in Italy and has hardly seen any sun. Safe travels.

Well it was really difficult to entertain the kids, especially on the rainy days. We visited 2 different aquariums for example. Did a lot of footballing on the porch but it didn't really feel like the holiday we hoped for. Weather is crazy in the whole of Europe at the moment. That’s what I always say too on my videos, a beautiful view doesn’t mean good for photos 😂 might be good for a few minimalist photos of the sea, but agree not much else. It’s a good place to just enjoy the day though. Nice holiday!

That's true as it can be. But my main purpose there was to enjoy my holiday and we did that so mission accomplished. After all the images weren't that bad. Expectations.... killer for any photographer. Thnx for watching grt guido

That's funny. I've never seen this bird in the netherlabds, but when I look for it, it seems to be quite common... should do some more birding. I guess 😅 I guess the biggest problem here was my own expectation. When I look at it now, it wasn't too bad, just not what I expected... thanks for watching grt guido

Thanks. Wonderful and humorous video. I found your discussion of the landscape photography challenge very interesting. As you were walking and talking, I was thinking of the wide angle images and leading lines of the near-side shoreline, photos to capture with the 8-25 f/4.

I think the biggest problem here was the trap that I fell in many times before. Expectations... somehow, I had something different in my mind, and that kept my vision away from the possibilities. When I looked at it now it wasn't too bad. Deffinitly a wide angle possible there. Thanks for watching. Grt guido

Thanks for scouting Guido 🙂This year we will stay at lake Garda for a week for resting, before going hiking in the Dolemites. Indeed the blue-ish scenes are a (bad) thing as we had a lot of hazy scenes last year photographing mountains at big distances in the Dolemites. Sometimes it wasn't possible to take nice photo's. Hopefully the weather conditions are better late august. The photo's showed in the video are stunning, so it wasn't all that bad isn't it? I will try to find some photographic locations, although it will be a week for slowing down before the epic trips in the Dolemites.

I just expected something else... those expectations and a week of bad weather made my mood bad, and I wasn't able to keep a clear view on the possibilities and only see what wasn't possible. Hoi Guido Ondanks dat het Gardameer misschien niet was waar je op hoopte zijn je foto’s na de zwart/wit eilandopnamen toch erg geslaagd. Dus het is lang niet zo erg als je dacht. Het gaat er om, dat je het moment verzilvert als het zich voor doet. Daar in ben je volgens mij goed geslaagd 👍👏

Achteraf was het inderdaad niet zo slecht. Een week slecht weer had denk ik mijn goede humeur flink beinvloed en ik kon alleen nog maar zien wat er niet was ipv wat er wel was. Achteraf waren er best een paar mooie plaatjes bij daarom heh ik de video ook toch uitgebracht want eerst wilde ik alles weggooien. Achja weer een les geleerd 🙂 bedankt voor het kijken. Grt guido
