Congrats! Looking forward to taking the journey with you. Like many others the P100 is my top pick for my end game grinder. Still learning my taste preferences on 64mm burrs before taking the big plunge. Enjoy!

What is the most impressive is the speed! I'm so jealous with my Mazzer Mini. Is the speed caused by the huge burrs?

Would love to get your thoughts what would be a cool combination -- 98mm HU + 64mm Cast or MP? I currently have the 98mm HU and want to pair it with something that's a bit different
@jkimmakes2 жыл бұрын
Definitely one of my goals to find out! I have so many different 64mm burrs, it somehow feels like I don't have enough grinders.
@BensCoffeeRants2 жыл бұрын
I heard they're supposed to be pretty similar actually. What do you want to be different? If you have a high clarity burr/grinder already I think something low clarity / high body would be a good one to compliment it especially if you occasionally like a traditional medium or darker roast espresso. Something like the Niche Zero would make a better complementing grinder or an HG1 prime maybe. I really like those large mazzer conical burrs on my Key grinder it gives you more flavour clarity and less body and richness than Niche but still more conical like vs a large high clarity flat burr.
@ThyDaybreak2 жыл бұрын
@@BensCoffeeRants Ah, rather i'm keeping my 64mm dedicated for filter. So I'm actually wondering if the 98mm HU swing closer to the cast or the unimodal-ness of the MP. That way I could have a different profile.
@tommihommi12 жыл бұрын
@@ThyDaybreak 98 HU is very, very similar to 64mm MP
@BensCoffeeRants2 жыл бұрын
@@ThyDaybreak for filter you don't want something low clarity generally those don't work as well. If you already have an ode df64 or p64 you wanna use maybe the ssp or option o sweet lab style cast burrs are a good option. Should work well for espresso or filter. Option O hasn't released their version yet.

Just curious, after the marker test, did you wipe the burrs clean? Or have you been just pulling shots without cleaning? Wouldn't the marker end up in your cup if you haven't?

Looks like similar or the same accessories as I got with the Lagom P64, I really like their Magnetic funnel, perfect magnet strength so it doesn't fall off upside down, but not so magnetic it's difficult to remove :P It actually fits on the Portafilter Forks on the Monolith where the 'Decent' brand one doesn't (a bit too wide and obstructs the fork). The WDT tool is alright, I believe it's 0.4mm but with only 4 needles it takes a little more work vs a 3d printed tool with EIGHT! 0.3mm needles. Cup is a bit too big and heavy unnecessarily but it's nice. 3:53 I don't think it's possible to put it in at a different orientation is it? I think P64 has a similar design but I actually haven't opened mine up yet, so not sure but I thought it only fits in one orientation unlike the DF64.

I would’ve liked to see what the real retention on the grinder is with the first beans you put in it when it we completely clean just because you put 18 grams in doesn’t mean you get the same beans out

How's it compare to DF 64 and which burrs in DF64. Please review it for us
@BensCoffeeRants2 жыл бұрын
P64 would be more compatible. And there are videos comparing the p100 to the p64 so you can get the idea. Taste wise the larger burrs should be better for good quality light roasts. If you're doing mostly milk drinks medium or dark you're probably fine to save your money and use the df64 if you're happy with it. I find for Darker roasts Niche or Eureka burrs might be better though.

its basically tea, right?? lol That said, that grinder made really "light" work of that coffee. Considering how dense those beans must be, I thought it would be slower or that we would hear some groan of the motor. He even did a cold start with the beans in before the motor was on.
