I also own a 40’ Lagoon catamaran, I’ve sailed 43,000nm on my Lagoon and sailed your coast from Taz to Thursday Island. I’ve never been in a storm or anywhere close to 50 knots. All I can say is get a weather router and be patient, to be in 50 knots coastal cruising is not necessary.
