I flew into Lagos by myself for my husband flew in before me, anyhow my first time flying into Lagos and my experience was extremely stressful and overwhelming, as getting off plane I was approached by a man that’s not in a uniform wanting my passport which I was hesitant due to dressed as a regular person also trying to force me to pay him in order to direct me to where I needed to go which would be immigration I had learned from watching sassy before hand so I was aware of what could experience and how to handle the situation which that I was grateful I had watched her previous videos before hand, baggage claim also was a stressful experience constantly being approached for tips I felt so stressed and tried to maintain composure I believe cause I look white they may think I have money. Lol yeah ummm no we are all I’m sure in a budget and it’s already a blessing to be able to go visit family. Anyhow customs wasn’t so bad but god I was so glad and relieved to see my husband standing behind customs. I was so stressed when I got outta the airport. My experience in Nigeria/Lagos was amazing I absolutely loved it ❤ Flying out of Nigeria was very confusing nothing organized no signs anywhere telling you which airline were where, but my husband was born and raised in Nigeria and we flew home together so he handled everything. Thank god

Hi Sassy I recently visited Nigeria in October with my husband. My understanding from family members is that most international carriers can not use the new terminal due to a design fault that does not favour international aircraft. The new terminal jet bridge is too small for; international carriers. The design of the jet bridge was for older aircraft like the ones air peace use.

@wolebbf2 жыл бұрын
@@picksix12it’s actually the docking apron that is too small to contain jumbo aircrafts like Boeing 747, not jet bridge as you mentioned. The problem is correctable if the airport authority can afford to pay the amounts being requested by each of the existing concessionaires around the new terminal so they could allow their facilities demolished in order to expand the apron. This agreement ought to have been entered and signed as part of the planning processes, failure to do that is what has given the concessionaires the opportunity to want to extort the government by making humongous compensation demands that the ministry is currently finding hard to agree to. I was with FAAN b4 I left Nigeria.

i just discovered this channel and i love it - WHAT AN INCREDIBLE RESOURCE! just subscribed. i plan to be in nigeria during the first half of next year. i have a nigerian passport but was born abroad. my parents are warning me not to go b/c of violence, especially around election season… but i don’t think it’s any more than usual? *naija family, what do you think? has similar fear deterred your travel plans?*
@nkjv122 жыл бұрын
I will say definitely wait till after the election is over and the new president has been decided. During the last election my brother was getting married in April 2015 and even though we had planned and assumed that the election will be way over by then, that was not the case as there was so much delays and political unrest to the point where there was a curfew in Lagos and if I remember correctly you could not leave home before 7:30am. So by time I got my luggage and come out of customs at about 6:30am as it was very quick ( as people had better sense than me to be arriving at that time of the morning during ongoing elections and political unrest). My family member had to leave home at 7:30am and obviously there was now traffic as everyone will be leaving home at that time. They did notvget to the airport until about 8:30am when usually they will been waiting at the airport at about 6:45am. Now you may think that is not a long time to wait but trust me as a young female or just any gender actually to be waiting around the Lagos Airport (which is full of vultures and hyenas) for 2hrs feels like 24hrs wait. But my brother's engagement was actually very nice as not a lot of people turned up as people thought the wedding had been cancelled or postponed (we had people ringing us in the morning asking if the engagement ceremony will still be going on). So it turned out to be an intimate which doesn't happen a lot in Lagos weddings.

Please Sassy, do the Officials at the airport actually check for the confirmation of payments for the 2nd and 7th day Covid tests when you arrive at the airport. I'm leaving in few days since the pandemic and unvaccinated, unsure what to do regarding the test in Nigeria. I have watched videos where people complained about paying and can't confirm it on their arrival, and some other stated that they just collect money and never carried any test, while some stated that they didn't pay for any test and were not checked on arrival. Please, could you clarify this issue. Many thanks.

Hi Sassy, how is the corruption in the airport at the moment? I heard the immigration officers will often only issue a 30day authority even if my paperwork says 90days and then give their personal phone number to extend. Do you have any insight on this? thanks so much!
@missrhoadie7867 Жыл бұрын
I just returned from Nigeria. I stayed there exactly 2 months. They stamped me in for 30 days, then I had to extend my visa for around $20, this was a 26 day extension. This left me with 6 days that I needed a visa to cover, so I had to pay $210.00 for a special visa called an e-pass (which allows you to stay up to 90 days). I extended my visas each time at an immigration office near where I was staying in Abia state.

@akinjoaquim10132 жыл бұрын
What obtains in one country should not necessarily be the norm. If so, visa fees should be same. There are peculiarities. Perhaps what is required is standardization of fee, process for payment and organized assignment of porters for ease and comfort of travellers.

I travelled from US to Nigeria in Feb 2022. Immigration went smoothly in Lagos…however getting a trolley was interesting! I went to get a trolley and the woman in the booth wanted 1500n..mind you I just landed and had no naira! The young msn behind me who was also on the same flight as me, also wanted a trolley. She charged him 500n…he was Nigerian… I am not! I questioned this difference in price and said I have no naira and started to walk away. She stopped me and said it was Valentine’s Day so there was no charge for my trolley! Hmmm. Now I know why you did not quote a trolley price in your video, because it is totally up to the attendant in the booth. On to baggage claim. The room was very tiny, and then the center was the luggage turnstile. It seems like they were hundreds of people packed into this room all trying to get their luggage. They were so much luggage that much if I had already been removed a turnstile and was lined up against the wall so you had to look in both places for your luggage. I was waved thru customs… thank goodness! Once outside the airport, I was overwhelmed by the number of young men who wanted to help me with my baggage. They would not take no for an answer. By the time I got to the car park, I had 5 attendants with their hands on my luggage…all wanting to charge me 10000n for their help! What an experience!

Hi, why is that?
@dapoademola21342 жыл бұрын
Hi Sassy, Love your work. Please keep it up. Regarding you comments around 7:45, there is legislation that regulates what Customs can collect duty on and how much (Custom, Excise, Tariffs etc (Consolidation) Act or CETA). This law states that personal and cabin luggage of airline travelers are duty free. Based on this, it is illegal for customs to charge duty for any items in a passengers personal luggage. Indeed, Customs recently lost a case at the FHC on this where the court ordered to refund the duty to the passenger and pay him N5 million in damages (www.thecable.ng/court-rules-its-unlawful-for-customs-to-collect-import-duty-on-personal-goods). That said, I endorse that the way to handle it if you are charged is to remain polite and diplomatic but also make them aware that you are familiar with the provisions of CETA.
