Great video as usual Andrew! Lot of METRA action on 11 October 2019 in LaGrange, Illinois. Out of curiosity do you have any idea why that inbound Amtrak Illinois Zephyr had to wait in LaGrange before proceeding to Union Station? Was there an outbound METRA train on the middle track that the Illinois Zephyr had to stop to let the METRA train cross over to westbound track? Totally enjoy your videos.

Thanks for watching! To answer your question, I don't have a clue why the Amtrak Illinois Zephyr had to wait. They do pick up passengers at this station so that might be the reason but not really sure why. Hope this answers. -Andrew Mangalindan

@@ATrain4014 I had an idea that the Illinois Zephyr trains stopped at LaGrange. But this train was on the middle track rather than being on one of the outside tracks closer to the station's platform. Considering the fact that this occurred during the evening rush period, stopping on the middle track would mean that passengers would have to cross active tracks to get to and from the Amtrak train. I was thinking that the train had a stop signal which caused it to stop where it stopped. You and the crew were probably more focused on the passing trains rather than what was happening on any signal bridge in the area.

I think they do that for safety reasons. Like it doesn’t want to waste time to switch tracks to the middle. Or maybe because a metra train could be behind it not so far away.

Great vid and love the dedication! Couldn’t help but notice (both in this vid and the last few racetrack vids)that the West bound z trains usually come around mid to late afternoon. Correct me if I’m wrong, but is this their usual schedule, or is it usually a little more hard to predict? Thanks!

Not trying to be nitpicky, but you guys really need to do something about the vibrating camera problem, if you know what I mean.

Round Lake Railfan Yeah. A dumbbell might work. Try that! I’d say maybe 5 pounds oughta do it!

The type of tripod will also affect it. But yes add some weight and experiment with it, it will help. But great video regardless. 👍👌😎

We're aware of the vibrating camera problem. We're trying a bunch of things to solve this problem. We're still in process of trying to get new camera gear even though our budget is pretty tight. I do like some of these suggestions that I see listed below. -Andrew Mangalindan

@@ATrain4014 I don't know if this helps or not, but I would humbly suggest considering a GoPro camera. I use a GoPro Hero 5 Session, myself, and I can personally testify to how smooth the footage from a GoPro can be. No shakiness, no vibrations. Just take a look at my videos if you don't believe me. Also, some other benefits to be gleaned from GoPro cameras are as follows: >They're relatively inexpensive. >They're highly durable. >They're very easy to charge on the go. >They can have a pretty high storage capacity, depending on what size of MicroSD card you use. >The newest models are even equipped with a screen on the back, like a regular camera.

We had umbrellas and rain jackets to stay mostly dry. Plus, we used parts of the station as shelter to stay dry from the rain. -Andrew Mangalindan
