LaGuardia Airport's Terminal C | February 2023 Update

It's been a while since LaGuardia airport's terminal C's headhouse opened but that does not mean construction is complete. Since my last update, there have been changes and a whole new concourse has opened up! This video showcases whats old and whats new at LaGuardia's terminal C! Wow ! The new 'avatar' (=incarnation, as in Sanskrit !) of Terminal C is stunningly superb ! On the walkways one must feel like walking in some crystal city or something akin...the symmetry, the expanse are both awesome...! Thanks, Peter for your pellucid narration and pointers on the 'breeze-through' of Terminal C, LGA !!! And yes, The Bonus Clip is the cherry on the cake ! I am a Delta Frequent flyer as well out of LGA. I love the new terminal. Peter One thing you didn't mention was that departing passengers whom do not want to check in bags can stay towards the left and they can go upstairs to the TSA lines. It's a dedicated shortcut to the departures level the airport is laid out on levels.

For anyone who's travelled major cities of the world, one would shy away to comparing it with DXB, SIN, ICN, PEK, DIA, AUH, HKG, IST...

It’s a difference comparing HUB airport to a Node airport. LaGuardia is a node airport so it’s not as big as the others but for its size it punches way above its weight and is the new king of node airports. HUB airports like Changi, DXB, PEK and Hong Kong need to be flashy and huge to attract airlines and customers.

Will the final concourse in the old terminal C eventually be demolished or are they going to renovate it to match the rest of the new terminal? I was in there last year and saw a sign saying the bathrooms were closed due to renovation.

@@PeterMasella I would say it would make more sense to keep it. Renovate it to make it match the new terminal. The layout fits with everything.

The original plan was to demolish the old Terminal C concourse and build new. The purpose was to give about 40 feet of additional width to the area between C and D to allow for concurrent, bi-directional taxiing, a feature that seems to nowadays be considered an important factor in on-time service. But after reconsidering, it was determined that in this case, the difference in performance would only be marginal. So instead, the 3-decades-old Concourse C will remain, but with extensive renovations to match the new terminal, repair/replace what needs to be, and presumably, bring whatever was previously short up to modern standards.
