This is exactly what I needed, I'm planning a trip to NYC to see a Broadway show (Maybe Happy Ending), but I'm from rural Indiana and the public transit in NYC is kinda terrifying to me. I cannot express enough gratitude for this video, how you go through the steps. I've been checking out other videos and they have good advice, but I've been looking for something like this! Basically just a walkthrough of exactly what to do and where to go. Like i was honestly gonna just spend a buttload of money getting an Uber so I didn't have to worry about it, but I think with this video I can handle it 😁 thank you so much!!

Thanks! That was really nice of you to say. And we know how you feel. It’s exactly why we made the video. I didn’t want to watch a 20 minute video. Just tell me how to get there quickly! I actually just went back a few months ago and used this video to get to Manhattan. Works great! Denzel and Jake Gyllenhaal are in Othello on Broadway starting next month. Thanks again for sharing and have a great trip!

I'm kinda glad they didn't make an AirTrain for LGA - the original plan was bonkers. LIRR from GCT takes 13 mins to Woodside, Queens - then a quick trip on the Q70 and you're right there.
@ericschnakenberg87949 күн бұрын
Can you also take the 7 to times square? Is the R a better route?
@Castaways_Travel9 күн бұрын
Yeah, I think there are four stops on the 7 in Manhattan that go laterally from the east side to the west side. It just depends on where you are trying to get to. Refer to a route map of the 7 train (from Roosevelt/Jackson Heights if you are trying to follow this quick guide) for more information. transitapp.com/en/region/nyc/nyc-subway/subway-7

The Q70 is totally free. You don't need to purchase a ticket anymore. You haven't needed to purchase a ticket for 2 years now. The signs that show you the bus route even says it's free. You do have to pay to ride the subway but not the Q70, the other Q buses you have to pay for but not the Q70.
@Castaways_Travel6 ай бұрын
Yes. That is what is explained in both the video and the description. The Q70 is free. The ticket is for the train.

@@joeshonk9715 wrong. “The LaGuardia Link Q70 bus service is free, so you don't need to pay to board. However, you'll still need to get a receipt from a kiosk to prove your purchase. MTA inspectors may randomly request your receipt as proof of payment. Riders without a receipt will be subject to a $100 fare evasion summons.” This was literally explained in the video. I even inserted a clip of the MTA Police.

@Castaways_Travel Жыл бұрын
Yes
@gawi44059 ай бұрын
No, but you don't need the ticket for the Q70, it's free. But if you have apple pay you won't need a MetroCard at all on your trip, you can tap to pay on all subways and buses.
@ChauIntl5 ай бұрын
Your comments say that for the M60, you pay on the bus, does this mean you swipe your metro card when you get on, and the unlimited metro card can be used for both buses AND subway?
@Castaways_Travel5 ай бұрын
You can pay by card, or OMNY when you get on board or you can swipe your metro card at the bus stop kiosks before getting on to get a receipt for proof of payment.
@albundy064 ай бұрын
Or you can just get on for free. If you're buying a metro card, just use that. Or use tap to pay on your phone. Or your physical card. You can use them all on NYC busses and subway. And use the same payment method for all your travels. If you're going to be using it a bunch and want to save money. It's something like 12 rides or something like that in any seven day period is the max. After that, they're all free. It basically replaces the unlimited metro card. To be honest I don't even know if they still sell those things. But if you tap with your phone, then use your physical card, then a metro card.. they're separate and don't all go towards your 12 or maybe 13 rides or whatever. Basically there's a maximum amount of money you will be charged in a 7 day period using omny with the same payment type.
@Castaways_Travel4 ай бұрын
@@albundy06 They still sell metro cards I just used an unlimited one a few weeks ago. Buying an unlimited card is the same price as the OMNY deal. They’re just different methods of payment and come down to personal preference. All these options are explained in the video and description.
@albundy064 ай бұрын
@@Castaways_Travel Not quite. You have to pay a dollar to get the metro card. Other than that it's the same. I'd suggest anyone coming into town to not waste the time and the dollar on getting a metro card unless they don't want to use their phones or other tap to pay methods. Which of course there's nothing wrong with not wanting to use tap to pay methods. But if you're ok with using them. Skip metro cards all together.

The machines definitely don’t, but the MTA website says some discounts are offered on train fares like the LIRR and Metro North with an Active Duty ID. Try their website for more info: new.mta.info/fares/lirr-metro-north

Thanks! The Q70 does not cost anything to ride but you need to have a receipt from the machine at the waiting area showing at least one fare for the train you are about to ride. These receipts are not typically taken but can be spot checked by MTA Police at random.
