Did it once, never again. Got shaken down by the police within 30 minutes of crossing into Tijuana. Completed my business and got back into line to get out of Mexico.

The reason I ask is because I signed up to the Facebook page you mentioned and I asked them the same question, and they all suggest just getting it at the border. Even the administrator suggested getting it the day of. I have to stop at banjercito regardless and applying online will not get things done that much quicker. But based on your recommendation, you say it is quicker. Regardless, thank you for this video. It truly has been helpful and lead me in the right direction. ❤

Correct. You do NOT need a Temporary Vehicle Import Permit for driving in any part of the Baja California Peninsula, Quintana Roo, the northwest portion of Sonora (the area west of the 15D and north of Guayamas), and within 25 kilometers of the borders. This video was filmed at a Texas border crossing.

The route in the video takes you to NY Penn Station. You can take another route from there to go directly to Times Square or a short 10 min walk will get you there too.

From description: I have heard mixed reports about completing the entire TIP process online. Some say it can be done and others have stated that it cannot. When I was researching the process myself the Banjercito website was often spotty or non functional. For me, I’d rather just visit the Banjercito in person. You will need to stop at the border crossing and get your FMM stamped either way and often the Banjercito and Immigration Office are in the same building. We are not claiming this is the ONLY way to complete the process, but do believe it is the easiest way with the highest rate of success.

This video is mostly just about the Temporary Vehicle Importation Permit process. If you plan to drive a vehicle beyond the Mexico Free Zone you will need to purchase a Mexico TIP. The vehicle import permit can ONLY be obtained from Banjercito, the official Mexican issuing agency. Get your permit online at the Banjercito website or at the Mexico border.

“Need” is pretty subjective, but we already had one and found it convenient when we were able to stay in hotels and just charge up all our gadgets in one go. I wouldn’t say we necessarily needed it but it was definitely convenient if you have the space and are willing to carry it. If you don’t have at least a power bank to charge from I would imagine having a converter would become more necessary.

The Penn Station name extends from the fact that the old Pennsylvania Railroad built many of these stations back in the early 20th century. At that time, different railroad companies typically used different stations, especially in major cities or towns, so the station usually took the name of the company. MTA bus planner here. There are a few things that need correction/clarification. If you have apple pay/google wallet (or your credit/debit card has tap to pay), you don't need a MetroCard. And there is no OMNY app, you just tap the screen on the bus or at the subway turnstile with your phone/card as you normally would at a store. It is pay per trip, but in a 7 day period all trips after your 12th are free, so it's the same as the weekly unlimited MetroCard. And as you pointed out in your note, a new MetroCard costs $1 aside from the money you put on it. The Q70 bus (LaGuardia Link) is free and you don't need the ticket - just walk on. It's the only one of its kind. The M60 (and all other buses/subways) is not free, so you need the ticket for that one if you can't use OMNY. But really neither is free, since the Q70 doesn't include a free subway transfer, which 99% of people will be doing lol. The Q70 only goes to terminals B and C. The M60 goes to all three. At Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Ave station, the R and the 7 both go to the actual Times Square station. But all the lines go to stations pretty close to Times Square, and the E and F run express 6:30am-midnight, so they'll get you there faster. But yeah, like you said, just see what line your destination is closest to and take that one.

Thanks! The Q70 does not cost anything to ride but you need to have a receipt from the machine at the waiting area showing at least one fare for the train you are about to ride. These receipts are not typically taken but can be spot checked by MTA Police at random.

I don’t think we were afforded any time to explore on our own after the guided tour. I think the tour was enough but it certainly would have been nicer to have more time but I think they have to keep a strict schedule to catch the train back to Ollantaytambo in time. I’m not sure what second trip you’re referring to.

Ah. Yeah that’s actually pretty common. I think we even had to wait a few minutes for it to clear but we got lucky with perfect weather once it did. We highly recommend Alpaca Expeditions and are hoping to do another trek with them again someday. Thanks for watching!

We have always used deet on our clothing and skin for our outdoor adventures and it worked well for us in Peru. Some prefer Permethrin. Deet is a repellent whereas Permethrin is highly toxic and usually kills the insect and is typically used on gear and clothing and can last much longer. OK I just did the air train but I had a issue. If you do a round-trip, make sure you get both tickets and a receipt. I waited and got one ticket, thinking that was round-trip. But no and then when I got into NYC I went to Customer service and they’ll only get you a courtesy pass up until the Airport.
