I visited Lahore in 1985 in the summer vacations of my intermediate exams. I fell in love with Lahore. Especially the Lake and area around it. I wish i was born in Lahore too and experienced it as a child. The only confounding variable was the presence of the new age politicians with their ill gotten wealth alongwith generals who are after the same. I had an uneasy feeling about it, and now in 2024 i can say with confirmity that i saw it coming.

My Dadi was born in 1927 in Misri Shah, Lahore, near Nakhuda Chowk. Throughout my childhood, I heard stories of her early years, both before and after the partition. My Dada used to work on Mall Road. I heard that my ancestors were Sikh and moved from Amritsar to Lahore long before the partition. This conversation took me back to those times. My Dadi passed away in 2019. I miss her. ♥

I was lucky enough to visit Lahore in Feb 2006.Watching the test match was just an excuse and watching Lahore was the reason. Enjoyed my stay extensively but just one complaint in could not buy news paper except on last day I could lay my hands on it from a shop that sold samosas,news papers and magazines.I gained 3kg in 9days.Food Street was just outrageously good.
