FYI - the Roomba website says not to use hot water. They have a page of approved cleaning solutions for each machine. Another thing that disappointed me about this machine.

Were you able to mop the carpet too? How did it go? My house is 95% carpet and I just bought one myself, thinking that I could use it to mop the carpet... but was told today that I CANNOT use it for that purpose? I still haven't even opened the combo bin box, and now I don't know if I did a terrible mistake with this purchase 😖. Thank you in advance for your feedback

The mop is for hard floors. So you put the mop on, then tell it to mop the room that is not carpeted in the app.

Can it be programmed for "no go" areas? I don't want mine to enter bedrooms from kitchen area.

I didn’t realize that this cannot be programmed to avoid rugs when mopping. I have a few large area rugs and do not want to have to move them every time I mop. The only option according to the app is to “barricade” the area and they show items lined up around the edge of the rug to prevent the room a from getting to the rug. This is a huge pain in the butt and I’m about ready to say it’s easier for me to just mop it myself. Ugh

Try this, delete your maps, then put stuff around your rugs, then have the Roomba re-map and it should never get on the rugs again.

@ thanks for the idea. My issue is I do want it to sweep the rugs, but just stay off of them for mopping.

You could buy the virtual walls and all you have to do is move the switch if you want to have a virtual wall or circle and I got mine for 25 dollar for two virtual walls.

Beware if you have rugs - you cannot program this one to avoid the rugs. Wish I had known that before I bought it.

So delete your maps then place objects on the rugs and map your house again. This should stop the vacuum from going on your rugs.
