White Christmas by Laibach + Silence
This special seasonal release is a cover of a song written by Irving Berlin - a Russian-born Jewish immigrant who himself didn’t celebrate Christmas. The song was dedicated to his three-week-old baby son who died on Christmas Day in 1928, and to all the children with no childhood.

Undeniably so. But it all started during Yugoslavia. They were part of Neue Slowenische Kunst, together with visual art group IRWIN (sic), theater Noordung etc. Their roots are in serious philosophical and sublime reinterpretation of East and West art and ideology. After 40 years they are unmatched masters of that craft

Christmas is a christian festival, the birth of Jesus Christus. It isn´t a jewish festival, although the composer Irving Berlin is from jewish ancestry. For me it is so fascinating, a jew wrote a pop anthem for a christian festival. For me, Laibach belong to one of the most influencing rockband, art-rockband in the world.

I somehow think the point is missed with all of those congrats for the festivities. It is a song about the hope that is no more. With all of our festivities, we are locking ourselves in glass snow balls with our childhood memories, trying to hide from the horrors of the world, or to simply turn our eyes away from them. But the darkness is closing up at the end. That's how i see it.
