I will NEVER comprehend why others feel so inexplicably comfortable commenting upon a Black female's hair. I am an adult and when I was full-time Caregiver to my now late Mother, who battled debilitating Parkinson's Disease and Dementia whilst I too am disabled, afflicted with Sickle Cell Disease and Major Clinical Depression (by far, the most taxing years of my Life), my hair went on the back-burner. I did not have the time nor energy for my once regular blowouts. People left and right, White and Black, STAYED making comments about my hair. I remember putting my Mother to bed one night and then bursting into tears. I was deeply emotional about it. We as Black women carry a profound, unhealed wound in our Souls about our Hair. All of us. You don't know what people are going through. Keep your opinions and observations to yourselves if it isn't a glowing and genuine compliment. 😢

What do I think of these comments on Biles? I think this shows how insecure some black women/girls are about our hair. Some of us have so much disdain for our natural hair. I bet those who were commenting negatively about her hair were def not curly naturals. I bet you they weren't. Im nearly 100% sure they were not. Because to be a curly natural you learn how to love yourself in your most natural state including it's imperfections. Black women/girls have been unfortunately conditioned for centuries that bone straight hair is the standard. It's unfortunate.
