Trail Link says it is about 14.6 miles long, so about 29 miles out and back. That's like a perfect size for me! Sometimes I have a hard time understanding what is "gravel". They say that the Island Rail Trail in Vermont is mostly gravel but what you find there is crushed marble dust. To me, gravel is like pea gravel.... or is that something different?

Gravel can mean many things depending upon where you are in the country. Compacted forest road that feels close to concrete all the way to chunky rocks that are difficult to traverse. This particular road system is very compacted.

I've been looking forward to riding this trail. I actually live in the area. But my current bike is an Electra Townie and really not a suitable bike for the purpose. I'm trying to put together the money for my next bike. The Trek Dual Sport 2. Then this trail is first on my list. 🚲

While the whole trail might be out of reach of the townie you could definitely enjoy some of it. I would recommend starting at magnolia park and riding to the pump house and back. Your tires are absolutely wide enough to handle it.
