Isn't every lake a, "lake that exists nowhere else on the planet".
@PaulRudd19415 ай бұрын
Not really, Lake Baikal has as much fresh water in it as the 5 great lakes in North America *Combined* That is a staggering amount of fresh water. One lake has 20% of the world's fresh water in it.

@@PaulRudd1941 I think the person meant to say, "a lake 'like no other's on the planet". But what they instead said is, "this lake is right here, and only right here." Which, like I said, is applicable to every other lake on Earth. I.E. Lake Baikal exists where it exists, right? And it doesn't exist anywhere else, right? That's all I was trying to say.

25 million years old?!?!? For perspective, the Great Lakes are about 10,000 years old.

In the 1980s some Soviet scientists surveyed the lake bottom using echolocation equipment and their devices recorded a certain moving object with a length of more than 30m. The visuals are pretty striking, this video actually covers this from 7:45. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nImppoKDj69soNk

This video says it “completely freezes over”. Don’t they mean “the *surface* completely freezes over???? I doubt it turns into a 5,700 foot deep ice cube that would kill everything living in it.
