Maybe a silly or repeated question so apologies in advance, do you have a vid showing how you do water charges and what you use? Oh and I was thinking the other day have you thought about doing a live Q&A or a bloopers vid 🤔 I think that would be awesome ..

MD: maybe an idea for the four shrimp tank on 1 shelf: Make a continuous scape that stretches over the 4 tanks. Like from a distance it looks like one long scape, but divided over 4 tanks. The same substrate for all four in a row, 4 bog wood pieces that flow from one tank to the other and plants that make a continues scape at the back. Would be an awesome eye catcher and would give you the opportunity to keep 4 different shrimp “species” in the 4 tanks.

Thanks for all of the updates--especially on tanks that aren't going exactly as planned! Too many channels have these beautiful build videos but then no follow up to see how things grew in/if it worked. I learn as much from seeing what can go wrong in these builds as all the ones that go perfectly. Keep up the amazing work!

Excellent setup with the lake tank. Personal experience with the Brichardi cichlid is they are fine in a tank by themselves but once they start breeding become quite aggressive and can injure their tank mates. The following is from the web:- “The Brichardi Cichlid is very peaceful when it is among other Brichardis, however, they can become very aggressive when mixed with other fish, especially other Lake Tanganyika Cichlids. If you have a large aquarium (35 gallons or bigger) a single Brichardi will often coexist peacefully with other non-aggressive fish.” Happy Fishing

You should get another group of 2-4 multis of a different bloodline to improve genetics, as well as just kickstarting the population and filling out the tank a little. You could also give them another patch of shells to occupy in one of those outer corners and throw in another couple of inches of sand on the multi half for them to rearrange. Tank looks great!

Had the very same lighting problem with my 45cm Multi tank. Green dust/diatom algae everywhere! Raised the lighting arm (Chihiros C2) and lowered the lighting, no more algae months later. Was my first Cichlid tank coming from 'high tech' aquascapes so I had to learn not to overdo it like usual. I use Oolitic sand though so I can't speak to silica.

You might find a sheet of ‘neutral density filter’ from Roscoe or Lee filters would allow you to safely cover the lamp surface without changing the colour. It’s cheap and you can use multiple layers to get exactly the brightness you want. It’s what is used in the theatre dahrrrling. Also, I really liked the sharper shadows and the light ripples having the lights closer to the water surface, using ND filter over the face of the lamps would allow you to get the lights closer to the water again for that more dramatic look.

Want to start out by saying I love watching what you’re doing with all of your fish and shrimp, I’ve been raising shrimp for two years now and there are a few things that you might want to do a little more research on like you’re keeping all of the different kinds of shrimp in the same water parameters. Your cherry shrimp are fine in standard tapwater 7.0 neutral tapwater but the crystal Shrimp tiger shrimp And pinto shrimps need a lower pH somewhere between five and six and I think you’ll have much better luck with keeping them alive And thriving with baby shrimp
