Well done you two….we felt your pain watching this! We love the Langdales…it’s such a great gateway to fabulous walks but this reminded us just how our joints ache after we spend a day here! Hope you enjoyed your steak and chips…you certainly deserved it! Nick and Liz PS. You’re right about Side Pike, it’s one of our favourites too…stunning views of all around and not too challenging to get up!

Thanks Nick and Liz, I think we did enjoy our meal after. We loved this day in the Langdales, but we've unfinished business so we will have to come back! Regards, Ashley

Ashley & Andrea, lovely walking up along the river with those cool waterfalls - the best way to head into the mountains👣👍 Stickle Pickle is a great looking mountain so can see why it is a favourite😊 and Stickle Tarn is a pretty cool spot👍 Lovely views with some height and the weather looked great (even with that strong wind). A cool looking descent with more of those cracking views over the Lakes. Thinking of food often keeps me going when out walking too😊

Thanks Gerry, Stickle Tarn is a major wild camping area, lots of places to pitch a tent or two. The Langdale Pikes are one of the top Lake District hiking areas and have everything you'd want in a great walk. Always very busy but once you go round the tarn the crowds disappear. That was one of the windiest days we've had up mountains and it nearly knocked us over a few times - safety was very important. Thanks for watching, regards, Ashley

Only been in the Langdale's once with Mrs Metalman about 4 years ago when we had a nice flat walk up to a nice hidden waterfall, although I did climb Blea Rig, Hight Raise and Sergeant Man last November on a glorious sunny day but from Grasmere. Sad to hear that Andrea had a stumble on those rocks, which are lethal in the wet, bad enough going up but a mare on the way down, which is one of the reasons I never overtake anyone lol. That crossing did look a little tricky, so could have gone all the way up on the other side? The is no path to Blea Rigg and I found it very difficult last year and remember being all over the place, so I do not blame her for being unhappy, let's always boggy up there. That wind looked strong mind on Sergeant Man but good to see a thumbs up. I remember walking through a bog on the way to High Raise, then seeing a path on the way back, that navigated around the bog! Just the way the day went, as I had to 'decent of doom' on the way back, trying (and failing) to get back to the car before dark, then falling backwards into a muddy bog, just when I thought I was was safe at Easedale Tarn😡. Good call on bailing on the last two, which will be there for next year, especially when you could also get the company of an experienced mountaineer - or even me! Mind you no wonder you bailed early with the thought of steak, chips, mushrooms and apple pie and cream for dinner, I would have been down like a shot! Great watch, even the outtakes, cheers Alan

Thanks Alan, sometimes the OS maps aren't up to date because where we crossed the ghyll the map says to stay on the right but there is no path, just vertical rock. Everyone crosses to the left hand side at that point and heads to Stickle Tarn. We were aware that the path to Blea Rigg wasn't great but Andrea was not happy until she got to the summit. Hopefully we can get back next year and complete all the Langdale peaks, and the company of a great mountaineer would be very welcome indeed. How is your leg healing? Hopefully you'll be back out in no time. You'll laugh at this but I'm potentially going wild swimming next weekend in Lough Erne, and possibly I'll film this premier. Andrea has declined sadly as I think she might have got me lots of views!! Regards, Ashley and Andrea.

You two never cease to amaze me well done, that one looked a bit sketchy alot of steps and river crossings quite rocky too. You can see how steep the climb was for yous on the way up by the waterfall seeing it at the end on your way back down.

Thanks, that area is very well known in the Lake District, and very busy so the main paths are well worn. The sketchiest bit was the descent when we came down beside Dungeon Ghyll - we did it before but the path is narrow with a very steep drop on one side. The wind was our main problem but there'll be other days to try again. Next 2 videos are much more sedate!! Thanks again for watching, regards, Ashley

I remember that day, its the day I walked around Derwentwater as it started quite foreboding..........Never been up through the Ghyll to Stickle tarn(once went from Rosthwaite up to Greenup edge then across to High Raise....Sergeant-man....Stickle tarn...up to Pavey-ark....Harrison stickle....Thunacar knott.....and back to Rosthwaite via stake-pass and the Langstrath valley).............the ghyll itself looked a joy to walk with all the water features and views back down, although slippery when wet......the tarn itself is truly spectacular in that natural amphitheatre. The best views of the tarn are from that vague path towards Blea-rigg, wonderful.......some lovely rocky outcrops to shelter from the wind up there.......a much better path to Sergeant man and High raise.....yes its very exposed to the wind up there, at least there was some respite in the shelter at high-raise and the views from there are superb in all directions. An easy slightly downhill route to Thunacar knott if a bit blowy(very blowy)........I think you had done enough without trying Pickle-stickle too especially in that wind Ashley(live to fight another day)......yes indeed Dungeon ghyll is a 'thrilling' path, it was lovely to see the sun emerging for you, great photographs, great vantage point of the route you took up too....... a very challenging hike in that wind, you did brilliantly. Does Andrea know you left that trip in lol...........ATB........Stu/Wendy.......👍👍😊😊

Oh yes, she knows!! there's always a few outtakes on our walks and mostly I miss them but this time i just thought, why not!! We had checked the mountain forecast before hand and knew about the high winds but we kept hoping they might recede but sadly they didn't. It was our second time up to Stickle Tarn from New Dungeon Ghyll and we love this path, but there was a lot more water this time so the crossing was not straightforward. We encountered a number of people just not prepared for the conditions. Andrea is our health and safety officer and is quite cautious in bad weather, I would probably chanced it on so it's good to get overruled now and again!! Many thanks for watching Stu/Wendy, regards, Ashley and Andrea

@@ashleyjarnold Yes Ashley its quite unbelievable how many people you see in the lake-district totally unprepared for the changing conditions, many without a map or any clue where they are.....looking forward to the next video already...😊😊

Hi Ashley, Hi Andrea, wonderful video as always. I do love the langdales. I think you made the right decision, Pike o Stickle is a small summit to be on in those winds. You got High Raise in which has wonderful views. I wouldn’t worry too much about struggling with the path over to Blea Rigg, there isn’t one really you just make your own way. Haha I did this route (apart from Dungeon Ghyll) the other way round. It’s on my channel if you are interested. All the best guys Dave 😀🥾⛰

I think I did watch it, Dave, but will look again - I always check out as many videos as possible before we do it as you learn so much from others. It was the high winds that spooked us - we could see people coming down from Pike O'Stickle literally crawling as they were so exposed up there. On the top of Sergeant man was a Fell Top Assessor with radios and he was not budging. For us it was another great day on the fells. Thanks for watching, regards, Ashley

Great video Ashley and a cracking walk. Wise move missing out the last two summits due to the strong winds. You got some great views, despite the weather. The Langdale Valley is a fantastic part of the Lakes. Hope you are both well. Cheers . Eddie.

Great to hear from you Eddie. Sadly my mum is very ill at the moment, so we are in the nursing home all day which is very stressful and tiring. Missing the 2 fells means we will have to come back again! Regards, Ashley
