Lake District Guided Walks: Helm Crag (Lion and the Lamb)

This is a superb walk up to Helm Crag via Greenburn. The summit rocks formation is known as the Howitzer and is a difficult climb to reach its peak.

Very good watch, enjoyed it. Been up a couple of times this year and filmed it both times but always gone up the way you came dawn, so good to see a diffent route to the summit. Enjoyed the drone footage and 4K very good, cheers Alan Alan

Great video Joe. Would you recommend this route up via Bracken Hause user friendly for an ‘inexperienced’ hiker, as I’m taking one up Helm Crag in a few weeks. Not major obstacles etc? Cheers, Matt

Hi Matt, so if approaching from the north side of the fell to Bracken Hause then the path is very well defined and easy to follow. From Easedale side it is a bit harder to trace lower down but becomes more defined as you gain height (both paths can be seen on Google Maps if you wanted to check them out). Should have no real issues up that way!

Where abouts on the a591 did you park?

Just as you are leaving Grasmere there is a large layby, enough for about 20 cars. There are actually two in Grasmere both large. Either will be suitable.
