Since day one when my little son Adam (nicknamed "Busio"🤷‍♀️) was born (same day as my birthday by the way) I was always promising myself that on his 1st birthday and mine we will go wild camping somewhere in the mountains. And because my two daughters have been to Snowdonia many times and both have climbed Snowdon (aged 4 & 6) I thought that the Lake District would be our next choice. Summiting Scafell Pike was just my additional small plan which TBH I had doubts that will be successful because I knew how much stuff we would have to carry in our rucksacks and of course little Adam in a carrier. But on the other hand I knew how much Julia (older daughter) wanted to climb highest mountain in England especially when she was called out in school assembly a year earlier and got a roumd of applause from all the kids and teachers for summiting highest mountain of Wales. She was very excited when I mentioned that we might try to hike to Scafell Pike summit.
So we set off from Coventry around 9:00am and just before 1:00pm we already have been soaking our feet in beautiful Grasmere Lake playing with ducks 😁
Couple of hours later we were enjoying our birthday cake by stunning Thirlmere Lake. I know the cake doesn't look like real birthday cake 😆 but it was delicious thanks to wife's recipe! We couldn't spend too much time there because we had to drive to Seathwaite where we would start our hike to Sprinkling Tarn.
We arrived at Seathwaite farm (around 150m above sea level) and we started packing our rucksacks...it took us ages to pack everything! Tent, mattresses, sleeping bags, clothes, food, water, wine, camera, lenses, tripod, batteries, power bank, water filtration system, head torches...list goes on and on...
When I lifted the rucksack I thought I'm probably going to die a few hundreds yards after the Seathwaite farm because it was so heavy 😂
We started our walk at 4:45pm. Gorgeous green valley with Seathwaite Fell in front of us which gave me big boost of energy and I forgot for a while about around the 30kg on my back. We crossed river via pretty Stockley Bridge and decided that we would head towards Styhead Tarn (437m) because we might struggle to carry all this weight higher to Sprinkling Tarn (598m) We left this option open and we thought we will decide later. After saying hello to dozens of sheep on the way we finally arrived at Styhead Tarn 2 hours later and we have been tired but not so much that we wouldn't reach Sprinkling Tarn so we started debating 😃 ... girls wanted to stay because they liked this place already, I wanted to carry on and wife said we should stay so we can enjoy more daylight. And that's what we have done, stayed by lovely Styhead Tarn. 20min later tent was pitched and we were singing again Polish version of Happy Birthday by small piece of cake with sparkler fired and last sun rays falling on the Great End, Broad Crag and Scafell Pike during this magnificent sunset! After we soaked feet in the cold water of the lake and had thrown some stones we decided with girls we needed to find a spot, where we could leave all the gear which we didn't need for our Scafell Pike attack like tent, mattres, sleeping bags etc. So we headed high on the Seathwaite Fell slope to find this spot. The girls did little danc to celebrate finding the spot and at making a decision to attempt Scafell Pike and we went down to Adam and mum. Again throwing some stones into the lake, some other games, bit of running and then everyone off to "bed"... well everyone except me 😊 When everyone is sleeping I have time for more photography! After taking some astrophotography images I could finally go to sleep as well.
7:00am sheep came to wake us up. Quick breakfest, packing and I went up to hide all the unnecessary gear.
We left Styhead Tarn just before 9:00am and the weather is superb!
Corridor route is brilliant with just one harder section in which I had to scramble down with everyone separately. Girls loved this section and when mum said "this bit was very hard" Nadia straight away replied: "no it wasn't" 😎
At 12:25 we are at the top of England!!! (978m)
The views were outstanding! We could see the whole of the Lake District, Coast, Scotland and Isle of Man!
Some sandwiches, water and of course some photos and then around 1:00pm we started descending.
We were back at Styhead Tarn at 3:50pm. We soaked our tired feet in cold water...this is a must of course and then I head back up to get all the camping gear. At 4:20pm we leave "our campsite" and go towards Seathwaite farm. Just before 7:00pm we are back by the car and enjoying Chinese Noodle Soups 😆 After 10min rest, girls start running up and down the street number of times?!?! 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️
We drove to Keswick to buy some ice creams which we all have been dreaming about all day. Set off from Keswick before 9:00pm and arrived in Coventry around midnight. What a weekend! What a memories! What a birthday!
Well...the best birthday ever!!!

Dużo ciekawych ujęć, niektóre z fragmentów wędrówki wyglądały dosyć wymagająco. Pozdrawiam :D

Pozdrawiam!
