This was thoroughly enjoyable. I have family in Glen Ellyn and I loooooove visiting them in such a beautfiful, family-oriented community.

I grew up in Glen Ellyn and spent most of the winter on Lake Ellyn. I was on the AAA speed skating team and we competed all over the State and always qualified for the nationals up in Minneapolis. Speed skating on the lake was very popular through the 40's and 50's. Glen Ellyn hosted many olympians at our meets on the lake. Wonderful times and lovely place to grow up. Lover's lane was also a hit. LOL

Never knew about the speed skating on Lake Ellyn in 40's and 50's. Also grew up in Glen Ellyn...GW class of 69.

Does anybody know the actual depth of the lake at it's deepest?
@glenellynhistoricalsociety4 жыл бұрын
The lake is estimated to be 10 - 15 feet at its deepest. If you go to the Glen Ellyn Historical Society Facebook page, we just posted some photos of the lake when it was drained in 2005. Thanks for a great question!
