I used to run a HATTERAS 50C Sportfisherman out of Eldean Shipyard in Holland Michigan. We would go out in 8-10footers and play around for fun. I sold it 8 years ago after heart problems. I was a 100T Master Captain. I do miss her😢

Thanks great video i just viewed it now, I don think many people are aware of how the conditions on the great lakes are. The local paper in Toronto ran a piece on Lake Ontario and how pleasure boating has exploded post covid and this has added a whole group of inexperienced boaters to Lake Ontario and Toronto Harbour. Thanks for the view of the Livingston channel

Love your videos. Your boat seemed to handle those 4ft waves very well. I picked up a new Regal 26 Express on this same day. Drove it across Lake St. Clair to Wyandotte in the same storm system. That was a wild ride and an adventure. I hope to make that cruise to Putt-In-Bay this summer.

I love your boat. I wanted a 340 Sea Ray many years ago. We sold our 250 Sea Ray and got out of boating all together. Lack of time was the main reason.

Sorry to hear 👂 that, but it’s nice to hear that you still are watching.

I have to laugh at some of the comments here. I enjoyed the video and there are some things to learn from all this. To all who say obviously you dont know what rough water is or those waves aren't as big as you say, obviously they havent been on a 34ft+ cruiser before. The waves dont look as large because the camera is likely nearly 8ft above the surface, there is no break water, and you are looking out over a bow thats likely near 25ft in front of you. Its a little different than being 2ft above the water and looking over a short bow. My question to the narrator is, does your refrigerator not have a door lock/latch? My Sea Ray does.
@boatingwithdrifter5241 Жыл бұрын
My boat has a plastic lock on it, and in rough water it does not hold. I installed a strap with a snap on it. That holds.

@boatingwithdrifter5241 ah. Well then bravo sir. I have a local lake that is a common challenge for me as it is a "three finger" lake and at times gets a strange hydrodynamic issue I call the "washing machine". No white caps, but a large 3ft tumbling chop. It looks harmless, until you get in to it and all the rules change. We'll done captain! Happy horizons to you sir.

I love docking at Millers! Great place to stay. I am in the process of selling my Silverton 41C and am thinking of a SeaRay either a 33 or 34.

@@boatingwithdrifter5241 As you know I did purchase a 340 and brought her to Huron Ohio on August 20th 2022. I loved the Detroit River and the Livingston Channel. Hope to do more trips up that way in 2023.

This is my 2nd Sea Ray Sundancer. So that my say a lot. Most Sea Ray owners I know, usually will trade up there Sea Ray for another. I love my boat and over all it’s preformed great.

That is not the way you handle awake from a 64 ft boat you Throttle up a bit and angle at 45° plus or minus
@dawnscott34324 ай бұрын
Not rough at all. You ain't seen nothing yet
@joeaker41302 жыл бұрын
I tried to comment previously, this is Lake Erie and you are not experienced to suggest this is rough. It isn't rough.
@joeaker41302 жыл бұрын
When you get experience, please post an accurate experience. Lake Erie is more than this you slack.

5 footers in a power boat, is rough enough for me.
@scottbruns51422 жыл бұрын
Lake Erie can be far worse but I don't see anything misleading about calling 5 foot waves rough.

@@boatingwithdrifter5241 I came here as I am researching cabin cruiser boats to use down in the South Florida Atlantic and make frequent Bimini, Bahamas runs. I own a 2015 Key West 244CC which is a great boat with good deadrise and Carolina flare for the Gulf Stream crossings. Sadly, it does not have a cabin. So here I am researching Sundancers and came across your video. Those are definitely not 5' waves...in the South Atlantic those could be described at best as 2-3' seas. I am surprised how unstable and amount of side to side roll the Sundancers have based on your video even in 2-3' seas as shown in your video. I am guessing that hull is more of a lake boat versus an offshore boat. It sucks because I really like the amenities of the Sundancer.

I live near Erie, and can tell you first hand. Lake Erie is shallow. A squall can develop in minutes under certain conditions.Waterspouts are common. It can swamp, and sink, even a well prepared boat. It may not be as rough as a "north Atlantic storm" . But I challenge you to ride out a Lake Erie storm. Tell me your adrenaline isn't pumping. Tell me you weren't worried that "this might be it".

Lmao, you have no idea what 4 to 5 footers are, that tiny boat would not handle them well at all. As for line management, learn to use a single spring line tossed to the dockmaster and cleated. No one should need to grab your docklines from shore. You need someone to train you for sure.
