The park has come along nicely since it was devastated by Tornadoes in 2011, this is why the trees are so small, the storms wiped out about 2/3rds of the trees in the campground and destroyed several of the bath houses. This is a great campground with beautiful views of the lake and later in the afternoon the deer come out by the dozens in and around the campground.

The best part in my opinion is the lodge, which is clearly visible from the campground. It's so nice in their that it's hard to believe it's a state owned building

We didn't get to go inside but loved watching the sunset reflection on the lodge from the campground. 🙂 Thanks for sharing 👍

We live all of about 10 minutes away from this park and love little jaunts up there on the weekends. As mcruff stated below, the campground was hit hard by the tornadoes in April of 2011. It was heavily wooded before and a large number of the sites were shaded. Actually, had a coworker who kept her RV there year round. It didn't make it. It will take a few years to get back to it's pre storm glory but I think it's doing well so far.

We wish we had seen it back then, but still we were impressed by the beauty of the area. That's sad about your friend's RV. We will be back at some point. It is a favorite park. 😎

We love the guntersville area! Will need to put the state park on our list for the future! Lynn loves the trails a little bit more than I do, so I'm with Gary. 🤪 The scenic byway sounds like it's going to be a nice drive. We look forward to seeing more of your adventures and staying connected on here! Danny and Lynn
