My father was on one of those landing craft boats on D-Day. He said it was the most harrowing experience in his life. 80% of the men in his unit died that morning on the beaches of Normandy. Looking back it’s hard to imagine the sheer terror a young boy his age then endured that day. Rest In Peace Dad.

I learned more from him when I was growing up than from any other single person in my life. The rains and snows will come again out west. I have been getting torrential rains for nearly 3 years out here in Tennessee. Unless they bust the dam, Lake Mead will hit 1983 levels again. What an awesome video. Brings back memories of the stories my grandfather told me when I was a young child. He was with the 6th Marines that fought in the Pacific and we'd be out fishing he'd start talking about landing on beaches in the LCVP(Higgins boat). Thanks for sharing

To me this video is the best so far: great camera work and editing, with so many great things packed in 17 minutes, while father & son are sharing thoughts and have fun - absolutely heartwarming. I've been watching you since the first drought video went viral, and the videos have been improving in storytelling and content quality ever since - you can also tell by views and likes I'm not the only one feeling this way.

Respect and caring for your fellow man. Supporting local businesses and the respect your kids have I just appreciate. My sons are the same way. Keep up the good work and good luck out there. I have been following Lake Mead since last summer and you capture amazing images. Thanks for the entertainment and education. Absolutely crazy to see just how fast this beautiful lake is evaporating right before our eyes. Much love, guys, and I wish you and yours continued success and prosperity.

Keep it up Sr. & Jr. you're doing a great job and a service to those of us living in the southwest where we depend so heavily on Colorado River Water. First view of your content. ANY Person of your generation with a passion and desire to learn more about WWII...and never let that story die, is A TOP SHELF QUALITY Patriot to me. Watching as you spoke so respectfully of the Higgins boat design paid homage to every boot that exited that boat-many would realize that was their last ride, in a matter of minutes. The Higgins boat would carry troops (36 on each or a combo of Jeep and less men) onto Omaha Beach in France for the Normandy landings, In Africa and throughout the Pacific. Our heroic Marine Corps’ Island hopping campaign would not have been possible, without the Higgins. Dwight Eisenhower would say without the LCVP (land craft vehicle personnel) "the whole strategy of the war would have been different". 2400 Brave Americans took their last breath on Omaha, NEVER FORGET. ~ Well Done Sin City.
