Plus Matt, you have a recovery vehicle that is fully fuelled up when you get to the job location.

I never make any comments but thought I would. First I really enjoy watching your channel and always look forward to your next episode. One thing I really like is how you don’t have a big introduction and get right into the action. You share a lot of good information making what you do interesting. I like how you get your whole team involved in your work and aren’t a one man band. Doing this will make your team better. I’m a 41 year retired City Of Phoenix employee that spent all my time in specialized heavy maintenance and repair. I was a supervisor my last 11 years and had to learn and trust my people to do the work. Team building is a key principle to success. Some day in my travels I hope to pay you a visit along with others you introduce on you channel (Robby and Paul). Thank you for providing good clean entertainment.

It seems like people get stuck when they get out to where it's soft under the crust and stop. If you took a stock 4wd street vehicle and just went flat out, full throttle, hell bent for leather, I wonder how far you could you make it? I wonder if that's what happened a couple weeks ago in the collab with Paul, when they pieced together like 600 feet of rope to reach the vehicle?

Great choice in recovery point, I work with road vehicles from ditches, fields, and accidents and the control arms are great points to pull from! I commonly use them to re-right, and drag vehicles without fixed points. Fixed points are perfect IF they are available and that’s a big IF because most vehicles on the roads don’t have them even if they’re advertised as “utility” or “adventure”

The line between rigging in "correct" ways and "non-traditional" ways is often blurry. Love how you get the job done, often in less than ideal situations but still maintain a safe working enviroment. He seems to have been able to keep who he is, who is always was, a genuine good guy. That everyday people stuff is what makes your show as popular as it is. You all have come a long ways. The goofy music when the car finally starts to come out. The how to hook up the soft shackle, the dynamic load, etc. All Great stuff! All of you and especially ole Ed, are going to live forever now, in these episodes. Everyone who ever watches any of the episodes starring Ed, will be the better for it. Two thumbs up this time 👍👍 This video is different. I love seeing Ed driving and having a more active part this time. And Matt gives interesting explanations about a car's rescue points and his trailer. Thanks for that!

Kinda surprised Matt doesn't set his truck's parking brake when loading or unloading. Not only for the obvious reasons but also for protecting the transmission from the rocking back and forth hard.

Right! It probably wouldn't hurt to maybe also lock it in 4wd to keep the truck from sliding when loading up.

Surprised they dont have a parking break on while trying to take it out of mud? That would make it 10x more difficult to tow obviously thats why.

It’s sad to see how bad the Lake is dried out. I’m in Texas and we are having the same drought issues. Along with a lot of the world. On top of 105°F+ daily heat here. We desperately need some rain!

Banana A/C: As an owner of a 2000 XJ, My AC randomly quit working, so here's a couple things to check if you know for a fact that your system has pressure. Check the high pressure cutoff switch, and the low pressure clutch cycling switch. My AC worked great and then the compressor pulley bearing started failing, so I replaced everything because the kit wasn't much more than the compressor alone, shortly after my high pressure switch failed, I replaced it, and a month later the low pressure switch failed, replaced it. And for the last 3 years I haven't had a problem with the AC.

Thank you Matt. There is probably no clear answer but what does it cost to have a recovery when the assistance is an hour plus away? I have a friend in Nevada who posts pictures of signs warning not to get stuck because assistance starts at $500! I’m amused that the landscape looks pretty. In NH we call that scenery desolate.

Watching these has helped me become a better tow truck driver. I used to get scared to throw J hooks where you attached your rope, but now I know it's perfectly fine as long as you don't overdue it with the force.

It amazes me how few people can keep the steer wheels straight while being towed! You guys have to tell most every driver to go straight. Seems like that should be the obvious thing to do. Follow the thing pulling you.
@loosemoose9799

That is seen in video after video. They don't know which way they are turned to begin the tow and don't know when the wheels are straight ahead. Also, for some reason the wheels are most always turned to the left. Matt tells them where to point the wheels and they still don't get it.

Rules schmules! What matters is getting it done & back home safe. Matt & his capable crew always rise to the challenge. It’s not always pretty, but it gets them out. Ed’s one tough cookie. Many much younger folks wouldn’t be game to keep doing what he does in hot weather, but when you’ve got such a passion & love of doing something comfort comes a distant second.

Taking blue is probably also cheaper than using the banana. Blue steel might make it up with towing. But will probably have a lower fuel consumption over all.
