Just want to say thank you for this video. My dad used to fish this area with his buddies throughout his life. He passed away when I was young and as much as we wished we never got to fish for salmon there together. Been my dream to go to all of his favorite fishing places and this video gives me some sort of bearing and confidence on where to go now that my dear dad isn't here to do it himself. I think he would be thrilled. God bless

Thanks for the info! In May I'll be meeting my dad & uncle up there. Only my second time up that far, usually fish sharpe by Fort Thompson. Always have good luck there!

@tjw1963 The smelt can be purchased frozen at the local stores. They do such a business in them that they have a small open freezer at the end of an isle.

How far would you need to cast for the spring Pike? Hopefully not far I'm a beginning fly fisherman and Pike sounds like a blast!!

If you fish the points of the little fingers in the bays you wouldn't have to cast far. They cruise the shoreline! Have fun!

Have you ever fished the tailrace below the dam from shore? If so, what's the best to use?

Shad raps or regular #7 raps, 1/2oz jigs and twisters. On the West side there is a point that is formed by the small basin/cove. That is an excellent spot especially in the fall. Evenings are best. I know groups of people travel up there without boats just to fish that and they do very well. If someone is on the point, try casting a bottom bouncer with a floating jig head and minnow cross current and slow retrieve as it goes down stream. I'd wear a life jacket as there is always current. Clayton Will Thanks for the tips, man. I appreciate it. I have a question though. Do you actually let your lures/rigs get to the bottom when you fish there? That place is full of rocks, and I think things snag pretty quickly.
