Northland Tackle makes an amazing bottom bouncer that is second to none. It is called the 'slick stick'. It is made out of stainless steel which intensifies the bottom. You can easily tell if you're on rocks, sand, logs or transitions. It also has a bobber built into the top of it, so when you do get snagged, let some line out (loosen your line) and the bobber will wiggle your bouncer free. It's worth the extra cash as they are not cheap.

A good rule of thumb that I use for weight, is one oz for every 10 ft, I fish 2oz down to 25ft, after that you don't get much feel.

My favorite way to catch walleye is a triple swivel. a quarter to 3/8 ounce jig with a paddletail on a foot long mono leader on one end and a 2 foot mono leader with a walleye fly on the other. Cast out and jig.

When I fished the Saginaw Bay in Michigan, I liked crawler harness and bottom bouncers, now I live on the west side of Michigan and fish smaller bodies of water. Jigging is my favorite way to fish now, the Berkley snap jig is awesome. But, when jigging isn't working I go back to crawler harnesses with or without bottom bouncers depending on where the fish are in or out of the weeds. This video was great, still picking up great ideas to try.

We had great success fishing below a dam from the shore casting a jig with a bobber about 2-3 feet from the jig which kept it off the bottom. Caught 12 in 2 hours. Kept 6 nice ones.

I troll with a white ballon cut into strips about 5 inches long put on a regular harness, some old fisherman thought me a long time ago.no need for worms the ballon bait last for many catches. Good fishing everyone

South Sask the number one game species is Walleye. I know a lot of anglers that cut their lines if they hook anything else. Pickerel rigs are the most popular set up with leeches

I’m a poser at walleye fishing just 3-4 years at it. But I had my fair share of catch using a double pickering rig hooked to a 3oz. bottom walker. Form top to bottom : leech, crawler and minnow. Very effective.

Exactly what I do (minus the bottom bouncer, I just count out my line). 3/4oz egg weight with a worm harness trailing 24-36" back. Hammered Gold blades and virtually any bead, haha.

I fish central Wisconsin and trolling Flicker Shads is usually the way to go but this year the crawler harness is killing them. I use in-line weights mostly. The bigger fish are sometimes suspended 8-10 ft down in 20+ fow. Jigging works too but I hate it.

Grew up in SDak, lots of walleye fishing! Rigs, jigs, plugs, through the ice, did it all. Favorite way for numbers was to wade for em in the evening. Small Whistler jig tipped with a minnow... awesome feeling the "tick" when an eye would take it. Like trolling/drifting with bouncers and leaders, too. Spinners, smile blades or even a single corkie with a crawler, leech or minnow depending on the situation (wind, current, water clarity, etc.). Have used the slow death hooks with some success as well. Only 3 lakes to target eyes here in Idaho and I have to drive a couple hours to do that! Try to get out every time I get back to SDak though! Great eating fish that are fun to catch.

I searched for best technique for catching Walleye and turns out my usual set up is exactly this technique, minus the 35 - 65 lb braided boat anchor/vehicle tow cable you suggested for line strength, Lol. Honestly 10lb braided line is more than enough for up to 24inch Walter's. That just my opinion tho. I might try a heavier test (no more than 20lb) now that it was suggested. At least if I get a snag i can just rip it out and wont snap my line... at least up to the bottom bouncer. Lol good video tho. Thanks

Excellent tips guys. I use to live out in the Northwest but moved back home to Minnesota. Many walleye spots here but love me some Lake of the Woods MN. Troll bottom bouncers and even 3 way swivels with up to 3 oz pencil weights,.. Love the video guys and keep at it. Visit MN and give any one of us a shout,. Good old MN nice welcomes ya.

Northern Ontario. I use a 1/2 or 5/8 oz jig tipped with a finescale dace in morning and evening. Late morning or early afternoon I like to cover wind driven shores with a Husky Jerk in gold.

Abitibi Témiscamingue ( north West of Québec), i personally love to goo near grass when its sunny in a 10 to 12 feet of water area with a thin fin ! Its easier to feel the fish and you can also fish some pretty big pike with that ! But i definitly need to learn this way too !

I live in Minnesota and a lot of us use a Snell or Lindy rig with a worm or leech for walleye. Pretty much the same but no spinner and usually only one bead. Troll around .7 to 1 mph.

Awesome Video! Just started fishing for walleye on the Columbia and I'm hooked! The last few times we have used the same setup and have just drifted with the current or tried to keep a speed of about 1-2 mph. Do you ever troll this setup upstream and what speed to you generally troll at? Also I've heard trolling plugs upstream can be very effective when would you use a plug over a worm harness? Here in Northeastern PA the walleye seem to like leeches or crawlers on a jig when bank fishing. No boat yet, maybe next yr or a Harley. But if you know the layout of the body of water with depth charts you can usually pinpoint any type of fish. Gotta do the homework. Thanks Addicted I'll be trying out the garlic scent tomorrow.

You are really missing out on Northern pike, especially the bigger 4+ pounders. It can be one of the best fresh water fish, not including salmon. They have to be from a good clean lake, not some shallow, muddy river or lake though.

A lake I like to fish here in the smokey mountains of western NC has walleye. I think they are pretty uncommon in the south. I've had them visiting the upper Midwest. They are yummy, I have yet to catch one I end up with some nice bass for trying though. Bass anglers on the lake catch them frequently.

Those rigs look great. I'll look to tie them up myself and get back at it. Yesterday was my first time targeting Walleye in NJ. Swartswood Lake is up to about 50 feet deep running lengthwise thru the middle. Fishing from the kayak is challenging based on conditions, so is a drift or troll the only way to fish this? I was thinking of a cast/slow retrieve. I dont have a fishfinder so I have to search the bottom. Also, does this rig tend to work on trout? We have Lakers and stocked rainbows that love spinners. They tend to hang around the thermocline so I dont think a bottom rig like this will, but in shallower water do you guys tend to see trout taking this presentation?

Liked the video. Everybody always have a better way. First thing is get rid of that snap on the end of the bottom bouncer and put a cross lock on. Start with two ounce go to three if you need to. Just my opinion we fish North and South Dakota, Northern Iowa clear to Lake Erie. Slow death will out fish worm harness thumbs down. Try both see which one works best. Like a # 4 blade. Smiley blade was killer in Canada last year and in June. Slow death no blade 3 ft leader. Liked your info.

I haven't really fished for walleye since I was really young with my pops but I do remember my dad and uncles always used helgramites, not sure if that's spelled right but I think they are like the larva stage of a dragonfly and they look insidious lol. Almost like the predators face on a centipedes body. And they always fished lake Erie or pymatuning lake in PA.. I could be wrong but that's at least what I remember lol, hope it's helpful somehow.

I fish lake erie always as i live 15 miles from it.. trolling is the best method.. whether a dipsy diver or if you do not have those you can use an 8oz trolling weight and then to a half swivel with leader line which is a few less lbs than you main line.. then troll about 1.5 to 2mph and bam.. fish in the boat

In the western basin of Lake Erie, troll at 2.3 to 2.6 mph. Michigan Stingers with a Jet 30 or a Dipsy diver. Just put your lures around 5 feet from the bottom or just above the fish you're marking. Pretty soon, they'll be jumping in the boat.
